La Tana Del Polpo In Bari

The octopus sandwich is delicious and exceptional. I took the classic one but there are variations with burrata and other types of sandwiches. Generous portions. Quick and cordial, and you can pair it with drinks from the fridge, beers and whatever else.

During my stay in Bari, I had the pleasure of dining at La Tana del Polpo, and the experience was truly memorable. It's not every day you find a trattoria that manages to combine authentic hospitality, a simple atmosphere, and, most importantly, meticulously prepared, fresh local seafood. As soon as you sit down, it's clear that the ingredients are the real protagonist: the catch of the day is carefully and respectfully presented in dishes that showcase the flavors of the sea without unnecessary frills. Each dish is served with a lightness that allows for the quality of the fish rather than overly invasive seasonings. The authenticity of the cuisine shines through in every course: you can clearly sense that these are carefully selected ingredients, without frills, cooked by expert hands who truly know their craft. The setting (in the historic center, amidst the typical Apulian alleyways and rough edges) adds to the charm. Great experience! The food, the atmosphere, the service - everything was more than wonderful! We ordered octopus salad, octopus meatballs and pasta nero with capers, dried tomatoes and fish. Compliment from the restaurant - sorbet with limoncello. Everything was fresh, very well prepared and delicious, served with finesse!

2025.11/ The dishes were ok, average, nothing unbelievable special. Truly special are the prices which are too high according to quality in my experience. From the order I linked the fried & panko alici and mussels and the fried octopus. I didn’t like at all the grilled octopus because, besides the slim tentacles at the end, all the rest had too much “fishy taste” for me, and, neither the Frito misto because the calamari rings were too dry and gummy.

Excellent food, generous and varied portions. The specialty is octopus. Nicola, well done for recommending the dishes to try!! It's a shame about the location; it was cramped and windowless.
