La piperna In Firenze

It's a small venue, in a non-busy part of Florence. It was the most enjoyable place I ate during my Italy holiday.

Una piccola pizzeria da pochi coperti all’interno e un dehor con altrettanti posti. Materie prime di qualità per le proposte delle pizze, tutte ben farcite, personalmente ho mangiato la Piperna dal pomodoro sugoso, un olio all’aglio non invasivo, in generale molto succulenta. Anche i fritti non male, a volte un po’ troppo fritti, ma buoni. Personale molto cordiale e gentile. Nota negativa l’assenza di aria condizionata che in un periodo molto caldo rende davvero molto difficile assaporare le pietanze con relative bevande che subito si riscaldano.

We stayed at the hotel nearby and decided to have a dinner at La Piperna due to proximity and positive reviews. I'm not sure if we were there on a bad day or it's one of those places where you need to know what to order. We ordered 2 pizzas, which were just average Neapolitan style super-thin crust that ends up soggy quickly. 4-cheese pizza had no tomato sauce and was just a greasy pool of cheese. Not very tasty. I wanted to try some pasta and asked the server for a recommendation. The only thing I didn't want was seafood but other than that, I thought I made it clear I was open to try anything else. He asked me if I liked cheese (who doesn't? LOL) and my heart sunk when he yelled out the order for Spaghetti Alfredo. Thought I'd keep an open mind and maybe it'd be the best Alfredo on Earth. Well, it wasn't. It was very salty, basically buttered noodles with Parmesan sprinkled on top. It's something you'd recommend to a toddler, not a grown-up asking for your best dish. We were charged 2 EUR per person "service fee", which is now the thing at every restaurant. But after we got our food, there was no service. No one stopped by to ask if we needed anything or how the food was. The server just moved on to other, larger and more profitable party. Had to chase someone to pay the bill. It wasn't terrible but overall disappointing and left a bad aftertaste, literally.

Tutto buonissimo, pizza "oro di napoli" ottima, antipasti fritti misti consigliatissimi, dolci idem. Proprietario molto gentile. Ci tornerò.

Pizza in the evening, not many customers because visiting hours are around 7.30pm

Surprise dinner for a person in the Borghese version to test a restaurant in view of a classy dinner..... I go in and ask if there's room for one. They don't ask that stupid mantra question if you've booked, a sad bad habit of many Florentine and Tuscan restaurateurs and they seat me. So we're off to a good start. I order a specialty: Neapolitan meatballs with tomato. They're fine. Also presented very well. I continue with the Margherita pizza which is excellent and plentiful, worthy of the highest Neapolitan school. A liter of sparkling water is an acceptable wine. Result: for me it's a yes. Add a pleasant and very clean environment and we can only consider the pizzeria one of the best in Florence. Normal prices and great kindness and professionalism from Luciano and Friends....

Good Italian food at a fair price. The service is very friendly and the waiting time is short.

Very nice place, well looked after and furnished, excellent and plentiful pizza, a real delight, a little difficult to find parking but apart from this, this is an excellent place worth trying at least once
