La Pignata In Taranto

A fantastic experience when we, as foreigners, dropped in and were given a seat without a reservation, on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was full, with large groups, two tables where two older gentlemen were celebrating their birthdays with their families and a few more tables of friends or acquaintances, where we never felt like we didn't belong there. The wonderful lady who served us brought us tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms to try, and a small dessert at the end, free of charge, a very kind and pleasant lady. This time, warm greetings to her. The food was excellent, the lasagna was the tastiest and the bombettes were extraordinary.

The appetizer and meat were good, but the only flaw was that you missed out on a coffee...out of 160 euros, you included 8 euros for 4 coffees...make yourself loved, at the end of lunch, treat yourself to a coffee. You'll make a good impression and it won't cost you anything.

I would give 10 stars but Google doesn‘t have 10 stars. :( We visited this restaurant last week because the one we wanted to visit was closed. It felt like there was a reason for this and we “were sent” to La Pignata. It was our friend‘s birthday and when the restaurant found out, they arranged a birthday surprise like no other, for the birthday guest. The whole evening, the food didn‘t seem to stop coming - little extras which we didn’t order - and the aim was to lift our spirits for this special day with shots of limoncello on top of us having to drink the bottle of wine we ordered! Food-wise, everything we ordered (and didn’t order) was very good. You can feel the passion of Antonio and his staff as they go about their work and as they attend to their guests. It is no wonder that the restaurant was packed. I honestly don’t know how to thank Antonio, the lovely waitress who served us and whose name I unfortunately didn‘t get, as well as the whole team for making this dinner truly, truly special - except to write a good review - because we do not live in Taranto. If you are local and looking for a lovely restaurant, or on a visit to Taranto, it will definitely be worth your while to seek out La Pignata. Molto Grazie La Pignata!

A wonderful atmosphere for family gatherings, the food is generous and delicious, from lasagna to bombetti and tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms. They managed to find us a table in a crowded restaurant and the service was fast, homely and friendly. I highly recommend a meal at this wonderful restaurant!

Very pleasant Sunday lunch, nice atmosphere, very fun

A place where you're immediately satisfied as soon as you arrive. Super friendly and courteous staff. The appetizers are varied and varied, all excellent and cater to all tastes. Afterwards, you can move on to seafood or meat-based first courses, followed by main courses (including enormous steaks grilled at your table), or an excellent pizza. At almost every meal, you can enjoy a "show" with lights and music, lasting a few minutes, which is incredibly entertaining. Highly recommended!
