La Mencia Piz. In Asciano

Here is a little gem to visit, in what seems like a deserted little town, Asciano. We walked many times and noticed La Mencia empty, either it's too early for us Australians or the place doesn't have a good reputation. We were wrong on both accounts, walking through the empty restaurant opened up to a beautiful outdoor dining with lots of guests. Here is where you find where the true experience of La Mencia starts. With its umbrellas, hedging and creepers give it an awesome atmosphere while enjoying your meal. Great food and wine brought a smile to our faces. Tip: Look further in, you'll be surprised by what you might find.

The garden behind the restaurant is really nice and cool. We were served by a very kind waitress who spoke perfect French. I had a very good salad with buffoon mozzarella. The pizzas, however, weren't the best.

Excellent value for money, quality food, tasty and plentiful. Don't miss the Florentine steak, the best I've ever eaten!!! The sirloin steak was also delicious. My husband had discovered the restaurant on a business trip, we returned together on a couple's trip and we liked it so much that we ate there 2 consecutive nights. Highly recommended!!!

Excellent quality of raw materials, truly top! Not surprisingly, coming from Milan, I go for sure and I know I always make a good impression on those I bring with me, whether it's work or family!! Super friendly and helpful staff, compliments to the girls at Mencia! And a compliment to the chef! Highly recommended

It took quite a while to take the order. The pizzas were nothing special, and the tuna ones were bland (it's a shame the onions weren't roasted)!

Very long wait, very approximate service. Much to improve.
