A seaside restaurant. The service needs a complete overhaul. When we arrived, we were brought a bottle of still water; when we asked for a sparkling one, the waiter seemed annoyed. Another waiter came immediately after to take our order. The dishes were brought quickly. Our plates were taken away once we'd finished eating. From there, absolutely nothing happened. The staff stayed at a table next to ours, where the price was certainly higher, but that didn't justify completely forgetting the other tables. After half an hour, during which no one asked if we wanted dessert or anything else (not even the bill), we decided to leave and went to the cashier on our own. Too bad, we had very high expectations. Disappointment.

Excellent food and fast service!
La Mattanza in Palermo was definitely worth a visit. The quality of the food was outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and prepared with love. The service was also very friendly and fast, as was the kitchen: no sooner had I ordered than the food arrived. The value for money is absolutely excellent. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit – I'd be happy to come back!

The mattanza is located in the maritime square of Vergine Maria, the menu is composed of two sections, one dedicated to the restaurant with fish and meat menus (pasta with sea urchins, tagliolini with black ink with sea urchins and prawn tartare, a best) and a menu for the pizzeria. We went for lunch and chose seafood dishes. They are also attentive to intolerances. The staff is very professional and friendly.

Fast service, good, well-prepared food. The only shame was the few flakes on my Paolotto all'acqua pazza, which otherwise tasted delicious. I'd return, but I'd ask for more attention to cleaning the fish. Excellent value for money.

Excellent pizza restaurant. The fish immediately appeared fresh. The fried calamari and squid were excellent, and the tuna steak with red onions was fantastic! I didn't like the "burst" mussels, partly because they were served cold and partly because they didn't look clean. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the dining room was spacious with plenty of seating. The wine list was good. Recommended.

So, the food was good. We ordered only desserts, and they were great. As for everything else… well, first of all, the waiter literally didn’t want to tell me what kind of desserts they had available. He said everything was in the menu - it wasn’t. The availability was different, but he didn’t want to bother. Secondly, they took coperto (service fee) for desserts and wine, even though it’s not a case in any other restaurant. And, thirdly, they scammed us out of €2, which is not a lot, but it’s just not nice. So I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, better to go to Mondello, or to go to the center of Palermo.

Disabled guests may have difficulty accessing the restaurant as there are steps leading up to the entrance.
Strollers may also have difficulty accessing the restaurant.

Pranzo in una location storica affacciata sul mare: il fascino del passato si respira tutto, anche se qualche tocco di rinnovamento non guasterebbe.
Il servizio è stato un po’ lento, ma la gentilezza del personale ha compensato l’attesa.
Il menù è ampio e variegato, con una proposta di pesce davvero notevole. Freschezza impeccabile, con una paranza semplicemente spettacolare, da sola vale la visita!
Nota dolente: la cottura delle busiate, purtroppo troppo crude per i miei gusti (definirle al dente sarebbe un eufemismo).
Nel complesso, buon rapporto qualità-prezzo. Un posto che consiglierei per chi cerca sapori autentici di mare in un contesto suggestivo.

Come sempre da 20 anni una conferma, dopo un paio di anni sono tornato a mangiare in questo ristorante pizzeria gestito da Piero un grande coordinatore e rappresentante pizza servizio insomma tutto top complimenti a Nicola il pizzaiolo storico. Consiglio sia pizza che pesce
