La Macelleria In Gaeta

This was our favorite dining experience in all of our trip to Italy. The bolognese pasta was the best I have ever eaten. I am going to miss it so much, I can’t even believe it was that good! The sausage and bean soup was fantastic, and so was the Gaeta sea pasta….. plus, they have house wine for very reasonable price and it was perfect with our food! The owner has a guitarist come and play and they sound so good. Amazing atmosphere, food, and experience all around that I will never forget, what an amazing time. Eat here and you will not regret it!

We ordered three tagliata, a tagliolini allo scoglio (seafood tagliolini) and a tagliatella al ragù (boiled tagliatelle). Everything was delicious. The waiters were very kind, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. All recommended, we had a great time.

excellent cuisine, both seafood and meat

We enjoyed the food, the wine, the atmosphere. The waiter was out of himself when we left a tip. The lady who was cooking did a very fine job, maybe adding a bit too much salt. We chose savory traditional dishes and were very pleased with it all, very tasty, simple, honest. Can recommend the sausage with potatoes, the pasta con vongole, the fresh salads.

The food is delicious. If you're not a seafood fan, I recommend the ravioli with blue tomatoes and smoked mozzarella. The service is ok. The waiter is singing. The next day we had carbonara, the dish was too salty. They replaced it with a new one. They serve tap water and charge for it.

Truly the place I was looking for... lots of tables indoors and on the street. It's a shame about the traffic, but that's the fault of the road management. The food is good, the service adequate, just a little slow in bringing out the dishes, but that's okay, at least you can socialize a bit. The house wine is good if they serve Cesanese (500ml for €8), cover charge €2.50 per person, but on the other hand, water is €2.50 instead of the usual €4-6. The only shame is that I'd recommend changing the bottle where it's served. I understand respect for the environment, but serving bottled (glass) and labeled water is always the best choice for a restaurant. I recommend everyone stop by and try their dishes, and kudos to the waiter (the only man there that evening), who was very friendly and made you feel at ease.

Located in the historic center of Gaeta, it offers indoor seating and, weather permitting, a charming front square. It offers a menu of both meat and seafood, with a good selection; all the dishes we tried, in our case the carbonara, cod, and spaghetti Gaetana, were very enjoyable. The added value of the place is Andrea, who, in addition to managing the customers, entertains them with songs and jokes. A casual place with reasonable prices for the area. Highly recommended.
