We leave the visit of Castel del Monte, and look for a restaurant for dinner.
Giuseppe warmly welcomes us to his family inn even though the service has not yet started, and offers us a tailor-made menu for 2 hungry travelers. We let him choose for us, and we are delighted. Giuseppe makes a delicious Focaccia, among many other dishes and pizzas cooked over a wood fire 😋
An unforgettable welcome, a pleasant family atmosphere, typical dishes, and a completely correct bill.
I highly recommend.

Beautiful experience 🙏. Two of us went here for lunch on Sunday, excellent quality-price, friendly and helpful owners ready to meet my needs (I'm vegan). Typical food from the region with exquisite dishes: orecchiette with burnt wheat with cardoncelli mushroom sauce and home made focaccia 🔝. I would happily return if I find myself in the Castel del Monte area again.
Ho pranzato divinamente..dall antipasto alla frutta..tutto molto buono , ho mangiato anche la focaccia ,strepitosa!!.personale cortese e alla mano....ci tornerò sicuramante

Locale carinissimo, personale accogliente , molta attenzione e cura dei cliente abbiamo pranzato col menu completo consigliato da loro, tutto buonissimo , la focaccia superlativa insieme agli antipasti , unico consiglio, di abbinare al misto carne , un contorno ...insalata o patatine fritte!!!! Per il resto tutto al top, lo consiglio !
This was the best place we could find. Despite the closing time soon, Giuseppe still served us delicious focaccia with his grandfather's delicious home-made wine and cake.

The Locanda dei Duchi, for me, represents a place that must be safeguarded. For a thousand reasons, including: family atmosphere, typical local cuisine and truly honest prices.
I think the real star is the food: by asking for the house starters you are inundated with delicacies worthy of being called such. Everything has that taste of home. The pizza is also good, typical of the area (you will certainly NOT find contemporary Neapolitan pizza) but which still manages to stand out also for the variety of ingredients.
In any case, I'll give you ONE VERY SERIOUS REASON why you MUST go and eat here: the focaccia. Inexplicable in words, a true jewel that stands out from the whole world.
Crispy dough on the outside and soft on the inside, cooked in a wood oven. There is no competition, it would win even against the focaccia on the stone from the Altamura ovens (which I love madly). TRY TO BELIEVE.
The real fortune was also being able to discuss this delicacy directly with the person who, every day, with love and PASSION, carries on the tradition: Giuseppe. He told me about how he runs the business, and of course also gave me some advice on focaccia (which, spoiler, I'm also trying to master as a hobby). We actually talked for a long time, we were lucky to have had the opportunity on a quiet evening.
I will definitely be back (and not just for the food).
