This evening I made a wonderful discovery in San Ferdinando di Puglia: Il Segreto di Pulcinella. A truly worthwhile place, one of those that stays in your memory. We started with a mix of revisited bruschetta, then were recommended two pizzas that really impressed me: "I Sapori del Sud" and "Angy." Perfect dough, excellent leavening, authentic flavor, you can taste the quality ingredients and that Southern soul that never disappoints. Stringy mozzarella and balanced ingredients... in short, pizzas made just right, the kind that make you say, "Finally, a real pizza."
But the real star of the evening were the sesame rolls, their undisputed specialty. Mouth-watering.
• The first course, stuffed with mortadella and stracciatella, is a flavor explosion: the sweet and savory mortadella pairs perfectly with the fresh and creamy stracciatella. The sesame bread is incredibly crispy on the outside and incredibly soft on the inside, with that toasted sesame aroma that captivates you from the first bite.
• The second course, with beef, zucchini, and fava bean puree, is a more regional treat. The tender meat, the fresh zucchini, and the creamy, time-honored fava bean puree... a perfect blend that tastes of authentic Puglia. The service is friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Prices are more than fair for the quality.
If you're in the area, Il Segreto di Pulcinella is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back, especially to try those sesame rolls again. One of the best and most authentic places I've tried in the province recently.
