If there were a chance to give it a 10, I would. I've never eaten such good fish in my life, and I'm not exaggerating. Everything is fresh, plentiful, and affordable. A large quantity of food for excellent quality. I recommend it to anyone passing through. Plus, the staff is friendly, welcoming, and very kind. It was a real pleasure coming here.

La Grotta di Vigata is one of those places that seem suspended between memory and taste, and for my wife and I, it was the perfect ending to an emotionally charged day spent reliving old memories in the alleys of Porto Empedocle. The restaurant is located in the heart of the historic center, and its interior dining room, carved out of a yellow tuff cave, is an immediate eye-catcher. The irregular walls, illuminated by warm lights, create an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, almost as if protecting diners from the passing of time. It's a setting reminiscent of ancient Sicily, yet with a touch of understated elegance. The menu is a tribute to the sea: the freshest fish, caught daily, cooked with respect for the ingredients and with a simplicity that enhances their authentic flavors. We began by sharing sardines a beccafico, fragrant and delicate, in which the sweetness of the raisins and the freshness of the fish blended in perfect balance, recounting centuries of Sicilian tradition in a single bite. Next up was spaghetti with clams and mussels, enveloped in the intense aroma of the sea and enhanced by a light yet flavorful sauce that showcased the purity of the catch. We concluded with a fragrant and dry mixed fry, where calamari, shrimp, and small paranza fish alternated in a crispy symphony, without a trace of grease, but with all the generosity of the Mediterranean on the plate. The service was friendly and attentive, with staff ready to recommend the perfect wine from the carefully curated list of Sicilian wines. Leaving, with our palates still wrapped in the flavors of the sea and our hearts filled with memories, we had the feeling that La Grotta di Vigata was more than just a restaurant, but a bridge between past and present, between memory and pleasure. A place where time stands still, and only taste remains.

We visited this restaurant after hearing the positive reviews during our stay in Porto Empedocle. Unfortunately, we didn't find what we'd read: The service was very cold and not at all warm; they barely greeted us upon our arrival. For food, we wanted to order an anchovy appetizer, but it wasn't available and we weren't offered any alternatives. So we ordered grilled fish, which was good but nothing exceptional, and spaghetti allo scoglio, which, however, lacked flavor. We then asked for a sorbet, but that too wasn't available (the machine was turned off on August 14th). Perhaps we were just unlucky, but as far as we're concerned, the place doesn't live up to the reviews we read.

Excellent food of excellent quality, everything was delicious and it's my second time there... The only negative thing is the tuna which, in my opinion, wasn't local.

Posto perfetto, tra i vicoli che conducono al porto di Porto Empedocle Pesce freschissimo e accoglienza ottima. Io e il mio fidanzato abbiamo preso come antipasto un crudo di gamberi, gamberoni e scampi spettacolare

Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, servizio un po' lento ma ne vale la pena.. Piatti genuini e pesce fresco. Consigliato!
