La Grotta In Acireale

Worth seeing is the cave where a river flows inside the restaurant.

Eating on a terrace sheltered from the wind by the harbor: a dream come true. Enjoying delicious fresh fish simply grilled after choosing one from among many others. A great restaurant not to be missed!

La Grotta – the food was, of course, very good. Surprising – despite the name – was the ambiance inside, beneath the giant lava boulder. Also surprising: you place your order at the fish counter right when you enter => the freshest fish. And we've never before received a whole bag full of delicious rolls, like coperto bread. Naturally, very fresh and delicious. Overall, a special experience, also due to the restaurant's location.

Beautiful setting, fresh food full of flavour. We had seafood salad and lobster spaghetti. Best pasta dish I've had yet, the salad was to die for. Highly recommend 👌

We came end of August to the restaurant. There is a public free parking lot on the other side of the church super easy. After two weeks in Sicily this was by far the best food we ate. So fresh, tasty, well cooked. And it is nice to order at the counter choosing the raw seafood. 🦞 the service was really nice as well. Please keep up the good work!

EXCESSIVE price compared to the quality

An excellent place to enjoy a delicious seafood salad (shrimp, octopus, abalone, etc., selected from the stall) facing the port, cooked to order, seasoned with olive oil and lemon: the local specialty!

This isn't anything new; rather, it's a confirmation, a guarantee of quality and courtesy that's been around for years since Carmelo's time. The atmosphere is familiar and informal. The fish, as always, is delicious, from the mixed seafood appetizer with calamari, oxeye, octopus, and shrimp to the grilled fish. The pasta with sea urchins is a staple, but the one with shrimp and cherry tomatoes is equally delicious.

Located in Santa Maria la Scala in the Acireale area. You arrive and there's no real set menu; you pay based on what you order, especially the weight. In fact, when you enter, the first thing you see is the balcony with the daily produce, where you can choose your favorites. We had a seafood salad with shrimp, octopus, and oxeye, and it was excellent. The highlight was the first course, the linguine with magnosa, which was delicious, rich in shellfish and well-made. The mixed fried fish was good, but nothing special. The service, as far as the waiters were concerned, was all friendly and well-trained, but one downside was that we waited almost 40 minutes for the first course, and it wasn't very busy that evening. The price was very reasonable, considering our choices, which weren't cheap, so I found it fair.
