La Grotta In Acireale

This isn't anything new; rather, it's a confirmation, a guarantee of quality and courtesy that's been around for years since Carmelo's time. The atmosphere is familiar and informal. The fish, as always, is delicious, from the mixed seafood appetizer with calamari, oxeye, octopus, and shrimp to the grilled fish. The pasta with sea urchins is a staple, but the one with shrimp and cherry tomatoes is equally delicious.

Located in Santa Maria la Scala in the Acireale area. You arrive and there's no real set menu; you pay based on what you order, especially the weight. In fact, when you enter, the first thing you see is the balcony with the daily produce, where you can choose your favorites. We had a seafood salad with shrimp, octopus, and oxeye, and it was excellent. The highlight was the first course, the linguine with magnosa, which was delicious, rich in shellfish and well-made. The mixed fried fish was good, but nothing special. The service, as far as the waiters were concerned, was all friendly and well-trained, but one downside was that we waited almost 40 minutes for the first course, and it wasn't very busy that evening. The price was very reasonable, considering our choices, which weren't cheap, so I found it fair.

We had dinner with friends and had a really good time. The location is pleasant, overlooking the marina. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious, with the freshest fish weighed in front of us and cooked to order. The price was fair. An experience worth repeating.

How much do I love this restaurant!?! I choose it when I want to eat really well! The fish is incredibly fresh, cooked in a very simple way, bringing out the best in its flavor! I highly recommend it.

I didn't know this place, it was recommended to us by some friends... and it was a pleasant discovery... fresh fish cooked to order and superlative first courses... excellent value for money... absolutely recommended

don't miss the seafood salad, pasta with sea urchins and with xoccola. The fried food is a must.

Nothing to complain about the cooking, unfortunately there is a big difference between the fish that is chosen and weighed and what actually arrives at the table. This was my experience, but I have had the opportunity to ascertain that it is not the only one, I do not find it correct and professional.

The interior of the restaurant is small but nice, built in a lava cave. The terrace with tables outside is also excellent. Before sitting at the table you have to go to the entrance where you choose and weigh what you want to eat. Everything is freshly prepared, so I recommend this place for the freshness of the fish. Four stars because the owner who takes orders on the phone, weighs the fish and takes the orders at the counter, when you have to pay you have to get back in line for the bill. I recommend booking because it is always full.
