We went there on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. The Carbonara pasta was excellent!

While the Trippa Romana is, from what I can tell, really good, the Cacio e Pepe is quite weak. The latter had a very thin "sauce." And it shouldn't really have a sauce in the traditional sense... It's quite runny... And hardly any pepper... And the pepper that was there seemed to be pre-ground, fine powder.
And the seemingly low prices only appear to be because it's a restaurant with a cover charge... Others don't have one and add it to the bill...
So, prices are fair but not cheap... Food is only partially good...
It's more of a tourist trap.

This place is on a lovely street of Monti. They accept walk-in only, so we needed to arrive 30 mins in advance. At the time of opening, already more than 10 people were on the queue.
Of course we ordered Carbonara which is signature here. In my opinion, the food here is on average, but not very tasteful. People come here for a 100+ years old restaurant, historic atmosphere and home-cook pastas style.

Vibe was on point. Our waitress was fantastic, and so was our food! Would have gone back if we didn’t eat on our last day in Rome. Must try.

Really enjoyed our meal here. I came for the carbonara and left with a new love, amatriciana. Our server was wonderful and very helpful. Highly recommended!

Visiting Rome for health reasons, we returned to dine at this historic trattoria, which for us is a must-visit—I'd say a healing place. What can I say? If you want to try La Vera Carbonara, you absolutely have to stop by; try it to believe it. Signora Rosy was incredibly friendly, and we felt like we were at home, as if we were eating at our parents' house. Thank you for your welcome, and congratulations on the delicious cuisine, cleanliness, and friendliness!

Such a lovely little restaurant. Great location in the monti area. Do not confuse this with La carbonara in Campo di Fiori. This is better. The restaurant is from 1906 and it has been in the owners family for 35 years. She is very gracious and helpful
