La Caprese In Mozzo

Found by chance, it was a pleasant surprise that we will definitely keep in mind for other special occasions. The fish is fresh and the raw seafood is sublime. The dishes are meticulously prepared. The wine is good, and the cake, their specialty, is truly delicious. The atmosphere is relaxing (perhaps the music could be better chosen and kept a little quieter, but we're nitpicking). The lack of tablecloths is a curious choice, and frankly not entirely appreciated. The staff is professional, kind, and young; young but clearly trained and on the ball. Well done to them and whoever trained them. Needless to say, given such quality (perhaps with room for improvement in quantity), if the prices were a little lower, I would come more often, but that depends on each person's means. Toward the end of the dinner (fortunately), a group of gentlemen arrived, and, despite not being all that new, it was worth pointing out to them that their neighbors might not be interested in listening to all their very interesting conversations. Since 1975, Mozzo's "La Caprese" has brought the culinary tradition of the island of Capri, featuring fresh fish (including raw) dishes, to Bergamo (and beyond), before the rise of sushi and all its imitations... Today, Antonella's offerings strike the perfect balance between tradition and innovation, past and present, and will carry us into the future.

This isn't my first time at Caprese, and it's not the first time I've promised myself I'll write a review. As soon as you walk in, it feels like home, with the only difference being that you're greeted by knowledgeable and kind staff who take care of you. The service and hospitality are impeccable, not to mention the chef, who, along with his staff, surprises us every time, raising the bar even higher. What can I say...if you want to eat good, fresh, quality fish cooked to perfection, this is the restaurant for you, above all others. Kudos to Caprese and its staff!

My partner and I went for lunch with the 2026 Gurmantico formula (it's not the first starred restaurant we've used with this formula), and our expectations were unfortunately not met. We started with an appetizer of bread, butter, and Cantabrian anchovies, €25.00 (6 anchovies) (off-menu), completely ruined by the burnt bread, which covered every other flavor of the dish. For the first course (main course), we had spaghetti with clams and bottarga, but in reality, the dish was just spaghetti: clams and bottarga were absent, and the flavor was rather bland, far from what one would expect. The portions were very small, almost minimal. We were also not convinced by the ambiance: tables without tablecloths and poor service. The waiter changed after each course, and no one ever attended to us from start to finish; some of the staff also seemed busy trying to operate a fireplace that they couldn't light, creating a bit of a mess. On a positive note, the traditional dessert, the torta caprese, was actually delicious. However, an extra scoop of gelato at €5 seemed excessive. I've attached the only photo of the dessert. Overall, a disappointing experience compared to the prices and expectations.

I just arrived and haven't had lunch yet, but I have to say this place has already won me over. The atmosphere is refined and relaxing, with a truly pleasant and well-organized outdoor space surrounded by greenery. As soon as I sat down, I tasted the bread... and there I knew the quality was there. Small details that make all the difference and bode well for the rest of the meal. If this is the premise, expectations are definitely high. I treated myself to a solo lunch. I enjoyed an excellent grilled sea bream, cooked to perfection and accompanied by fresh, well-prepared seasonal vegetables. Special mention for the wonderful welcome and the attentive, impeccable service.
