La Cantinella In Torino

Good morning, I went to this restaurant for dinner last night. I had a great time: the extensive menu, excellent food, and a lovely, intimate location. I highly recommend it.

La Cantinella is one of those Turin restaurants that transports you back in time: a slightly dated atmosphere, very popular, but overall pleasant if you're looking for traditional cuisine without frills. The pizzeria inside is slightly out of place—as are some of the furnishings—especially since traditional dishes and meat are clearly the house's strong points. Among the appetizers, the veal with tuna sauce didn't deliver the excitement we expected: adequate, but lacking any particular flair. On the other hand, the Mantuan pumpkin flan with Taleggio fondue was excellent, and the savory puff pastry roll was surprising—flavors that seem to come from Puglia but work so well together. The potato gnocchi with Castelmagno and pistachios were also very good, and the tagliarin with Bra sausage ragù was delicious. The only real disappointment: the hamburger. We weren't asked how it was done, and it inevitably arrived overcooked. Excellent desserts: the Tarte Tatin was truly well-made, and the zabaglione was no exception. The house Barbera was also very good, a pleasant surprise. The bill was in line with the menu and without any surprises. The service, however, was a sour note: the staff was rushed, at times pushy, unsmiling, and constantly felt like clearing the table was a priority. It's a shame, because the food deserves a more welcoming pace. In short: good cuisine, respected tradition, and several successful dishes; a more authentically relaxed service would be enough to make the overall experience decidedly better. Used to go here in 2005 and was driving through Torino so I had to make a stop. Still an excellent restaurant. Very home with quality house red, excellent gnocchi, and wonderful steak on a stone or filet with Castelmagno cheese and pistachios. Wonderful desserts and items are marked if gluten free.

Everything was truly impeccable. Mrs. Eleonora was competent, kind, and friendly. The food was top-notch. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for all occasions: business dinners, couples, and families. We'll be back. Thank you very much.

Cette adresse est superbe. J’y suis allée deux fois et j ai mangé divinement bien lors des deux visites. De plus, le personnel est sympathique.

Sono stato in questo locale a cena in famiglia, ottimo servizio, personale gentile, Eleonora in particolare una persona fantastica, Ho mangiato un filetto con il Castel Magno, gustoso e tenero, e gli altri della famiglia hanno gustato un ottima pizza.
