La Botticella In Pavia

Great restaurant for gluten-free dining in Pavia. The gluten-free pizza crust is excellent, and the selection of toppings is wide and varies with the seasons (I had a mozzarella/zucchini flower/ricotta pizza, unusual but delicious!). Note that only the crust is gluten-free; I think you have to check the toppings on a case-by-case basis. I don't know if they have a separate oven, but I think they're careful. I'm very allergic to gluten and haven't had any reactions, even though I often get stomach aches in pizzerias that aren't 100% gluten-free in France. There are also a few gluten-free desserts. The peach ice cream is incredible, and the lemon and basil one is also very good. I also had a very good raspberry spritz. Don't forget your mosquito repellent if you choose to sit on the terrace in the summer (the inside seemed a bit noisy).

The pizzas are original and excellent. I chose a pizza with a mozzarella base and mint zucchini cream, with yellow tomatoes and "pasta di salame" (it looked like mini minced meatballs, it was very good). The pizza is very large, well garnished, the dough is thin and airy, it's really great. My allergic friend had a gluten-free pizza and she also enjoyed it, without having the slightest stomach ache, which indicates that they take great care in the kitchen to ensure that the gluten-free pizzas remain so. In addition, her dough was airy and puffy, amazing for a gluten-free pizza. For dessert we had artisanal sorbets which were also delicious, and we drank raspberry spritzes which were also great. The servers were friendly and the veranda pleasant (be careful though, we regretted not having mosquito spray). Excellent value for money.

The music was extremely loud, the decor and furniture were poor, and the Margherita pizza was average, with the dough disappearing under the heavy cheese, turning into an unswallowable chewing gum paste. Another pizza with tomato sauce, oregano, and basil turned out to be mediocre in terms of both dough and tomato flavor. The wines by the glass were also mediocre, despite our ordering "good" wine of a higher quality. The restaurant is not at all expensive, which may have been the reason for its popularity, as it was packed that evening.

The perfect place for those who love thick-crust pizza. Quality ingredients.

The gluten-free pizza (the one with bacon) is delicious, with a high, soft crust and, above all, high-quality ingredients. 🫶🏻 They also have gluten-free appetizers, which is heaven for those of us with celiac disease or intolerances, like supplì, potato croquettes, and pistachio and mortadella bombettes, if I remember correctly. Ditto some desserts like the Caprese cake, Pavlova, and three-chocolate cake. 🫶🏻 Very kind and welcoming staff.

Highly recommended, even with children! We have known them for years and they are always a sure thing. They make the best pizza in Pavia. They are the only ones who offer a seasonal menu full of typical products and regional delicacies. We went with our two-year-old son and they were great! They provided us with pencils to color along with a special placemat, the seat was also excellent!
