Monday 4 March 2024 It's evening, we haven't eaten since Sunday; There is nothing in the house and sucking on some ice cubes, which I found in the freezer, is not the solution. Then it's Monday! And as in Modena, 95% of the venues are closed on Mondays. I don't give up and find one open... in truth almost all of them are open in via Orti, but the only one where they serve Milanese cuisine is La Bettola di Piero. I phone and book for the opening time, 8pm. At 7.52pm we are there, but they open at eight sharp! We have to wander up and down the street to pass the time. Finally we enter. The entrance is typical of an old tavern. Inside a decidedly vintage environment, with square tables and wooden chairs, red and white checked tablecloth, red napkins... all stuff in real fabric! They make us sit at a table just outside the kitchen door, from here we monitor the comings and goings, but then we return home with clothes that smell of everything and more. At the service there are the owners with at least a couple of waiters, in the kitchen there are foreigners. The first person who passes by gives us the menu and tells us that they have something off the list, only seven portions: risotto with quail. TWO! Next we opt for the starter: vitello tonnato for my wife (I know it's a Piedmontese dish, but there was nothing else that inspired her) and fried brains for me. He tells us that the portions are appetizers, but we're fine with that. Gas water and half a liter of Vernaccia. You know my idiosyncrasy for reds that are not Lambrusco, i.e. naturally fermented, because they cause me to have attacks of atrial fibrillation just by smelling them and since I would risk either hospitalization or defibrillation on site, I regularly opt for white wines outside the typical area of Lambrusco. The risotto is excellent, you don't eat like that in Modena. Well, I think they use Carnaroli, but I wouldn't put my hand in it, around here in Lombardy there are a lot of rice fields..., in any case either they have a special recipe or their rice is different than what they sell in Emilia... I have to steal this secret. The risotto is not yellow, but white with a baked quail placed in the middle of the rice, whole, and with its sauce spreading everywhere. My wife doesn't like this kind of birds... don't laugh!... but since she adores Milan, she wants to try everything that is Milanese. He only ate the chest of the bird, he gave the rest to me, you know the pain I felt... Then come the appetizers. Vitello tonnato presented in an unusual way, but very good: unobtrusive sauce, capers and anchovies that did not overpower the other flavours, as often happens. The brains are amazing: fried very well with breading of the right consistency and lots of very tasty filling (here in Modena I have eaten them in a couple of places, but it seems they have forgotten how to make the breading, which is regularly a lot despite the filling ); three balls. In the meantime the place was completely filled, packed to the brim. I noticed that here in Milan they go out to eat in the evening, not like we do, that they all arrive from nine onwards, here at twenty past eight at the latest... We finally order the desserts: sheep's ricotta cake with orange caramel and deconstructed black cherry tart... Unfortunately, a very long wait, both to bring us the menu and to bring us the desserts. Too much unjustified time, not even for the full place, they passed by, looked at us and continued on. The desserts weren't bad, on the contrary, but I didn't get the tart, but something different, at home reading the receipt and checking some photos online, I realized that they brought me the one called Come un strudel... un' in short, another thing... discreet, a little heavy overall. Final cost €97.00. The two risottos added up to €40 on the bill.

loved the hospitality, atmosphere, and food. it was our last meal in Milan for trip before heading to the airport to go back home and we were impressed. would recommend making reservations before your visit.

Much more refined than a tavern, while maintaining the familiar welcome of checkered tablecloths, it offers typical Milanese cuisine and some other interesting dishes. I ate an exquisite risotto and will return to try other dishes. Very kind staff.

I went to Piero's Trattoria La Bettola and I must say that the atmosphere is really welcoming, with decor that makes you feel like you're in a grandmother's house. The traditional Milanese dishes are truly excellent, with generous portions that leave you satisfied. I highly recommend this place to all lovers of good Milanese cuisine!

We went to Bettola di Piero over the weekend, together with some friends who live here, who had heard good things about this restaurant. The restaurant is located in a very beautiful area, well frequented in the evening. The atmosphere is that of a typical Italian trattoria. The owner of the restaurant, of Piedmontese origin, is very kind (there are references to her region in the menu). The dishes presented on the menu and those off the menu are mainly traditional. After a small appetizer offered, we ordered mondeghili to share to start, good, although the dough was a little too compact. Followed by Milanese cutlet and ossobuco with saffron risotto. Very large cutlet, as per tradition, tender, well done, difficult to finish it all (you risk getting tired, it's not very light frying). Excellent risotto, good osso buco (I would have preferred it even more tender, gremolada a little strong). To finish, a good tiramisu. Prices quite high for the type of place, we spent €50 each (also ordering a €40 bottle of wine). Good, but for this price, in my opinion, you can find better!

I've been to Piero's Trattoria La Bettola and I must say that the atmosphere is really welcoming, with decor that makes you feel like you're in a grandmother's house. The traditional Milanese dishes are truly excellent, with generous portions that leave you satisfied. Furthermore, dessert innovations add that touch of creativity that makes the difference. The service was pleasant and attentive to customer needs. I highly recommend this place to all lovers of good Milanese cuisine!

Una autentica trattoria milanese, in cui ho potuto assaggiare un ottimo risotto con l’osso buco e una gustosa cotoletta. L’ambiente è assai informale, ma la sala nuova di recente annessa al locale è carina; il servizio è sbrigativo ma cortese.

Storica trattoria milanese che vorrebbe essere un portabandiera di una cucina che ormai non esiste più. Sicuramente ha vissuto periodi migliori. Adesso è un locale molto triste che sicuramente avrebbe bisogno di una rinfrescata, anche solo di una diversa illuminazione. Accolti senza un sorriso o un minimo di sana cordialità da un signore (Piero?) burbero e brontolone sempre pronto a rimproverare il personale. Per fortuna la costoletta alla milanese rimane una delle migliori. Da dimenticare il risotto al taleggio&nocciole che sono decisamente troppe e coprono tutto il sapore. Anche il baccalà con polenta nera non sapeva di nulla,ottimo invece il vitello tonnato. Dolci normali, non memorabili. Prezzo superiore alla norma con l'acqua filtrata(che poi è acqua del rubinetto) fatta pagare come le minerali più prestigiose. Da consigliare? Ni
