Il Tartufo In Spoleto

I can't describe the culinary experience I had at this retro gem, the undisputed kingdom of His Majesty the Umbrian truffle! The platter of traditional local cured meats and cheeses was a true triumph of the wisdom of Umbrian master charcuterie makers. The paccheri with eggplant sauce brought back memories of the simple flavors of my mother's cooking (she made them often, and it was always a treat for me to eat them). The guinea fowl breast stuffed with potatoes was warm and fragrant, while the millefeuille with Chantilly cream and berries concluded with a flourish, a blend reminiscent of autumn. And what can I say about the kindness, spontaneity, and warmth of Mrs. Rafaella and her husband? They simply make you feel at home. I will gladly return here as soon as I'm in the area again!

Excellent food for a good price...the terrace was almost empty when we arrived. We sat down anyway. Highly recommended.

The location is excellent—right next to San Gregorio Maggiore. The black truffle steak (made with fresh black truffles) is absolutely delicious. They serve the most thoughtfully prepared bread in the world before the meal. The desserts are also exceptional. The staff are very friendly.

The flavors of each dish were of excellent quality and perfectly balanced: the main ingredient, the truffle, seemed to expertly guide the direction of taste, in a highly refined cuisine. The staff was attentive without ever being intrusive, for a truly impeccable service. We really liked the intimate and welcoming environment of this historic place, the furnishings and soft lighting create the perfect atmosphere. I highly recommend, definitely going back.
