everything is good but the portions are really exaggeratedly small for what you pay…
and especially during the night we all felt bad, perhaps something hadn't been broken down properly, I can't explain it otherwise

The Il San Lorenzo restaurant is a true culinary jewel located in the heart of Rome. The restaurant's cuisine enhances the intrinsic flavors of the products, preferring simple and short cooking times.
The menu changes every season, but there are some constants that they are particularly fond of, such as the interpretation of raw meat, spelled spaghetti with Ponza anchovies, bread crumbs and ash-cooked peppers and, in season, spaghetti with curly.
The pasta used is Verrigni, that of the pasta makers of Gragnano, and for the non-durum wheat flours Felicetti. The breads and breadsticks, with the exception of the Lariano bread supplied by Forno Roscioli, and the pastries are the work of Alessandro Laudadio, the "fat and greedy" pastry chef trained at the Valrhona school.
The fish cooked and served at San Lorenzo comes from the fishermen's cooperative of Ponza thanks to the collaboration that began in 2007 with Gino Pesce, a lifelong friend and patron of Acquapazza in Ponza.
Furthermore, they participate in the auctions in Anzio and Civitavecchia every evening. No long journeys, no frozen foods, no imports. Nothing that wasn't very fresh and just caught in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
San Lorenzo also adheres to a bluefin tuna protection program for which, precisely because they love it very much, they only serve bluefin tuna from May to September. The rest of the year they offer bonito, albacore, tuna and other similar blue fish, so that the bluefin tuna can live and reproduce peacefully.
I highly recommend trying San Lorenzo for a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

An excellent food and wine experience managed with hospitality and professionalism. Very high quality of raw materials and a service like few others in one of the most beautiful places in Rome.

Servizio attento e professionale prezzi alti

Very good for Sea Food lovers.
Fantastic pastas and the Profitorole & Tiramisu were worth going for just on their own
Clams were very good but generally outside of Sea Food I'd say there are a lot of other options.
Also, FYI, very little for Vegetarians

An exceptional place, slightly out of time.
The whole team is incredible, their advice on food and wine delighted my taste buds.
The service is careful, elegant and friendly.
It was my first time in Rome but for this restaurant alone it's far from the last! Thank you for this experience

I ordered the tasting menu. By my experience, when visiting a high class restaurant you will get some culinary highs, but in small portions. Well, in this instance it is both true and not true: some of the tastings were so small that you would have to take a second look just to be sure there weren’t anything missing on the plate, and then some were more than a mouthful. I had a pretty casual communication with the sommelier, who did a great job, but when we arrived at dessert I felt a bit abandoned: the waiter served me a nice piece of strawberry sorbet topped with crusts of croak. It was nice, but I pretty much expected the sommelier to recommend some dessert wine to go with it. When I had ate the sorbet the sommelier entered my table and asked if I wanted a nice wine for the dessert: I told him he was a bit late for that. He then told me that the dessert is the next on the menu : I had mistaken the cleansener for the dessert! So I got the dessert alright, with a really nice sweet wine from Sicily, in the likeness of a Sauternes. In spite of me not having a sweet tooth, I devoured both the wine and the heavenly bun drenched in a fruity sauce with the accompanying vanilla cream. And THEN after a while, the waiter arrived with yet another plate of goodies, a tiny danish and a tiny brown cookie. I guess they would be the perfect ending for those who enjoy coffee, but it was late in the evening and I skipped the coffee. So, when I left the restaurant I wiggled. The meal was an experience that I recommend to you all, but beware: you will not have to eat for another day :)
