Cozy place, trattoria style of times gone by. Friendly staff and fairly fast service. Prices are all in all reasonable, also in relation to the quality of the products. Recommended (if I return to Ferrara I will return here too...)

Yesterday my wife and I returned to Ferrara for a quick and pleasant visit on the crowded market day (it takes place on Monday and for the first time we even initially found the huge parking lot near the center full). As already shared in a previous review, when we come to this welcoming city we cannot miss lunch in this typical restaurant in the medieval quarter where you can still breathe an authentic atmosphere and find the flavors and aromas of tradition. Once again we were very satisfied with the food, the warmth and the atmosphere that this restaurant emanates with its walls literally covered with paintings, photos and memories. This time, always among the traditional specialties, we chose (and I document them with photos) pumpkin cappellacci with butter and sage, cappelletti with ragù (to tell the truth, the hostess had advised me to accompany them with a cream-based sauce or to eat them in broth, but I love that combination too much and I also feel like recommending it), local cured meats and pickles accompanied by fried pinzini, semifreddo with pampapato, a good wine. Even yesterday, since it is a very well-known and very popular place that does not allow the possibility of reserving a table, to bypass the potential problem of not being accepted, we arrived punctually at opening time. Of course, we will return on our next and not far away visit to Ferrara and we recommend it!

I finally did it: I had been meaning to have dinner at one of the various restaurants located in via delle Volte for a long time (naturally after a nice walk 🚶🏻‍♂️ there) and, just one Sunday some time ago, the right opportunity presented itself. As soon as we entered, we were cordially welcomed by the waitress 👩🏻 who led us into the room; we then took a look 👀 around choosing the table at the back in the corner (very intimate and private). Browsing the menu 📋 we were pleasantly surprised by the good variety of options, all of which were also relevant to the renowned local culinary tradition. In the end we opted for an appetizer based on radicchio, pancetta 🥓 and hot balsamic vinegar (truly special in taste and delicacy), cappellacci with pumpkin 🎃 and salama da sugo with mashed potatoes 🥔. All valid without a shadow of a doubt, also in the face of a quality service 👌. The only criticism I feel like making concerns the wine: we had only asked for two glasses of still red wine 🍷 (choosing a good Fortana but, when it came to paying the bill at the cashier, we discovered that we had been charged for the entire bottle (which was still opened in front of us at the table, I stress). At that point we were told that the "by the glass" service was not provided, but that we could easily take the bottle home (and so we did). I think it was simply a misunderstanding, a trivial lack of understanding perhaps, however I continue to be a bit perplexed (not to mention that, to return to the car 🚘, we had to cross 🚶🏻‍♂️ the center of Ferrara with the bottle in our hands like two drunkards 🙄). Honest prices and a very characteristic place, especially with regards to the theming and attention to detail in the furnishings. I give the fifth star ⭐ in this review 📝 since anyway we had a great time, but I invite the owners to carefully consider what was mentioned above. RECOMMENDED 👍. Pretty trattoria with walls filled with paintings and photos. Efficient and friendly staff, good quality cuisine with simple and tasty ingredients.

Very good food, clean and comfortable environment! I would have liked to give 5 stars, but I would like to contest the fact of non-reservations.. unfortunately nowadays it is not possible to rely on the correctness of people.. (rude, ignorant and rude, I would add) perhaps putting a numbering (like delicatessen) could be of help. However, this won't stop me from coming again to eat your delicious dishes!

A unique experience in the center of Ferrara

Pranzo di lavoro, l’ambiente è vetusto ma lo si perdona vista l’atmosfera alla “Trattoria di una volta”. Le portate non sono abbondanti ma la qualità è buona e si sente l’artigianalità. Anche i dolci sono fatti da loro. Prezzi in linea con qualità e concorrenza.
