We stumbled upon this trattoria by chance and enjoyed the home-cooked food, generous portions, and excellent prices! The staff welcomed us as if we were regulars; they were very friendly, kind, and courteous. If we ever have the chance, we'll definitely be back.

A very nice, rustic, traditional Italian restaurant with super friendly staff. The food is delicious and the ambiance is lovely. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere was very nice and the staff were very kind. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy the dinner because of the presentation of the dishes, which were all broken or chipped, putting me off eating. Out of three courses, three dishes were ruined, and not only that: the appetizer plate had two pieces glued together (an unhygienic thing, not appropriate for a restaurant), the main course had chipped pieces "fixed" with a shiny bronze marker. It wasn't very attractive either, and I didn't finish what was on my plate. The same was true for dessert. I thought it was just me, since I was passing through and not a regular, and maybe they wouldn't care how I reacted, but in reality, if I looked around the other tables, there was at least one chipped plate at every table. I would suggest the owners throw away the broken plates or at least leave the chipped ones unpainted because chipping is still noticeable and, what's more, it's unsightly and makes the place look dirty. This also raises the question of whether the dishes are not being washed properly…

If you're looking for a place to eat well, feel at home, and spend little, you've found the right place! Il Grottino satisfies everyone, guaranteeing an authentic Italian experience.

Had dinner here with the family tonight. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food excellent, the portions generous, and the prices fair. The only disappointment is that we can't return, as it's our last night in Città di Castello. Highly recommended!

Fantastic location, fantastic staff and excellent food 💯💯💯

We searched and chose...it seemed like the right place, and it was! Nestled among the narrow streets of Città di Castello, with outdoor seating and a wealth of history. We were greeted very kindly by the owner's nephew. He's knowledgeable and recommended some very tasty dishes. The bruschetta with burrata and caramelized onions was excellent, as were the pici with orange, lemon, tuna, and almonds, and the desserts!

We returned to this restaurant by chance after a couple of years and found the same atmosphere and the same friendly, welcoming owner. The food was excellent, refined, and plentiful. Highly recommended!
