I returned to Il Grottino after a very positive first experience some time ago with some friends, and I must say that this time too, the quality was consistently top-notch. Welcoming and well-maintained, with a warm, family atmosphere. The restaurant is tastefully yet authentically furnished, perfect for both a relaxed dinner and a convivial occasion. Traditional Umbrian dishes are carefully prepared using quality ingredients. From homemade first courses to meat-based main courses, everything is prepared with great care. The desserts are also excellent, authentic and beautifully presented. The portions are generous and the flavors are authentic, just as a true trattoria should be. Kindness, helpfulness, and expertise are the hallmarks. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, always ready to offer advice and make guests feel at home.

Traditional Umbrian dishes in a rustic setting. The vegetarian antipasto, wild boar mortadella, Norcina pasta, and strascinati were all delicious. Among the main dishes, I especially enjoyed the braised venison stew and braised wild boar. Pork livers were also interesting to share. Service was friendly. I will return on my next visit to Città di Castello. Recommended.

We stumbled upon this trattoria by chance and enjoyed the home-cooked food, generous portions, and excellent prices! The staff welcomed us as if we were regulars; they were very friendly, kind, and courteous. If we ever have the chance, we'll definitely be back.

14/10/2025: On Friday, October 10, 2025, we have a birthday celebration, and remembering a previous experience, I decided to recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is simple and elegant, with stone walls and beautiful paintings, some of which depict the city of Assisi itself. We were warmly welcomed upon entry and reluctantly decided not to dine on the wonderful terrace overlooking the square (unfortunately, it was a windy evening). Once seated, we were presented with a simple menu of traditional dishes, including the fillet steak with Sagrantino reduction and truffle, a truly commendable dish. The extensive wine list emphasizes local producers but also includes Italian and international wines, especially French sparkling wines. The impeccable and particularly fast service pleasantly surprised us. The price was excellent, in line with the location, menu, and service. The owner was friendly and told us a little anecdote about his "Amatriciana." Go try it!

A special mention goes to Egsona, whose recommendation—pappardelle with white ragù—led me to a true paradise. If you're in Perugia, you absolutely must come here!
