Really enjoyed the pizzas, but the highlight for us was the baba al rhum! The staff were extremely accommodating and very friendly.

As an Australian food critic with half a decade in the industry, I’ve had my fair share of exceptional meals, but Osteria Il Giardino di Barbano delivered an experience that truly blew me away. The bistecca alla fiorentina was a masterpiece—perfectly charred on the outside, yet beautifully rare and tender within, boasting a deep, dry-aged richness that only the best cuts can achieve. Paired with a bottle of Chianti Classico, the bold tannins cut through the steak’s succulence, unlocking layers of flavor that lingered long after each bite. Beyond the food, the vivacious ambience made the evening even more memorable. The restaurant was alive with the hum of lively conversation, the clinking of glasses, and the warmth of genuine hospitality. The energy of locals and travelers alike created an atmosphere that felt both intimate and electric, making it the kind of place where every meal turns into a celebration. Plus an amaro on the house was an excellent way to round off the evening For an authentic Tuscan dining experience that delivers on every level, this is an absolute must-visit in Florence.

An unusual, welcoming place, with a characteristic internal garden. The staff spoils and knows how to respond to customers' needs, the rooms are airy and you can spend peaceful hours relaxing without the inconvenience of tables that are too close together. The dishes, mainly traditional Tuscan, are really tasty, carefully prepared and highly digestible. A place to discover and consider if you want to maintain good value for money. Obviously the quality is excellent

Best steak i have ever had at reasonable price.

I was looking for a place in the center of Florence and I came across this Osteria which is located right in Piazza Indipendenza, therefore right in the centre. I really liked the place, extreme attention to style, large space both inside and outside (they have a garden which allows for fantastic dinners in the summer). The menu offers both traditional dishes, such as Fiorentina or classic cured meats, meat dishes, but also a fish proposal with great attention to variety and combinations. The dining room staff is attentive and very kind. We had two first courses and a second course which we liked very much. It was a pleasant discovery and we will definitely return to visit them.

American here!! (Go badgers), had a wonderful experience for lunch and dinner here! (We came back for dinner 2 nights in a row and were greeted warmly when recognized). The atmosphere in the garden is wonderful. Open air, smooth jazz, and pleasant greenery. The food is delicious. The staff will recommend the steak (and it is incredible) but you can’t go wrong with your order and dietary restrictions are clearly indicated on the menu. The staff are knowledgeable. American service is fast and seeks to “turn the table” ASAP. Here it feels slower, but the staff don’t want to crowd your experience so flag them down as needed. I would highly recommend you visit this restaurant as part of your Florence experience!!

Very tasty food, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. The offer with 1kg steak for 2 people, followed by a typical local soup, very nice!

A lovely long lunch with incredible food and service. We enjoyed the calm and elegant atmosphere, the abundance of truffle on our steak tartare and steaks. The host and staff were exceptionally friendly and professional. The complimentary freshly made pizza and limoncello and biscotti were just a lovely added touch as well as being delicious. My sister said it was a must go too whilst in Florence and we were thrilled we did! Super special restaurant.

A true corner of peace! I went to this restaurant fully enjoying the atmosphere of great relaxation that reigns, having lunch in the outdoor garden and enjoying some truly delicious dishes. Cacio e pepe well executed and really excellent meat, tender and cooked to perfection. The dessert at the end of a truly delicious lunch was also excellent. The staff are friendly and always attentive to every detail. They also gave us a discount, which was much appreciated. In short, a place where I will definitely return and which I recommend to those looking for tranquility and good food in Florence!
