I'm a regular in Mandello, but this was my first time at "il Giardinetto." I'd say the experience was positive in every way: a spectacular location with a splendid window overlooking the lake, a beautifully decorated dining room, excellent and well-prepared food, absolutely friendly and competent staff, and reasonable prices. If I have one tiny complaint, it's about the menu, which requires a smartphone to read; I think a paper menu would be more appreciated. I'll definitely be back.

Maybe it's just me who doesn't appreciate gourmet cuisine but in my opinion it's not worth the cost, the service is ok and the location is very nice.

I'm planning on returning. The current review, while positive, leaves me with some reservations. The food is good, but it lacks that little something extra. The service is good, but it feels 1990s. The atmosphere is nice, but stuck in a bygone era.

Had lunch today with my mom. The setting was absolutely delightful, with a priceless view. It was practically a terrace overlooking the lake. Even though we were nearing the end of lunch, we were seated anyway. We both ordered a typical lake dish: risotto with perch. The maître d' described the dish, announcing that it was a traditional dish revisited by the chef. It was essentially creamed with 36-month-aged Grana Padano cheese, which provided just the right amount of saltiness. There were four perch fillets (a couple more would have been nice), the inevitable sage leaf (just a small note: I prefer it breaded and crispy), and a butter emulsion on top. There was also a touch of lemon, which, for my taste, was perhaps too much. It was certainly a good dish, but perhaps I had prepared my palate for the traditional inn risotto. Regardless, we enjoyed it, and we appreciated the maître d'' listening to what I wrote when he came to check on our enjoyment of the dish. I ended the meal with an elaborate and beautifully presented dessert. The wait staff was very, very professional. Prices were average considering it was a gourmet restaurant. If I may, I'd pair the elaborate dishes with something traditional from the lake, leaving the choice to the customer. The owner was friendly. I recommend the restaurant for what was described.

Fantastic location with a view of the lake. We had lunch with the fixed price menu. The dishes are delicate and fresh. The desserts are something exceptional. Highly recommended.
