POSITIVE NOTES: ♟️ Service from the staff was very attentive and helpful. ♟️ We ordered dishes, and they were as expected. ♟️ Value for money was balanced... Clearly, it's not a place for everyone. ♟️ We ordered appetizers: artichoke salad, bruschetta with sausage, and zucchini flowers, all excellent... We continued with the veal ragù and amatriciana, which were really good, and I had a fillet with green peppercorns... super good! ♟️ Attention to detail in the bathroom... very clean, and attention to detail, like the mouthwash. NEGATIVE NOTES: 🚨 For me, this restaurant represents a very important moment that I share with my partner, since after years we returned for our anniversary yesterday, as it reminds us of our second outing together, years ago... So, when we booked yesterday a few weeks ago, he asked for a nice table for me, my daughter, and him, because he wanted to propose, and they didn't forget anything and gave us a table facing the kitchen. This is another detail that unfortunately made a difference during the dinner and we were disappointed. 🚨 The dessert we ordered was unfortunately ruined and had to be changed, but it clearly left us feeling a bit unhappy. 🚨 He proposed anyway, but I know my partner was disappointed, because he was expecting a different reservation.

Despite being the archetype of a "neighborhood restaurant," Il Cortile has been a guarantee of good food, wine, and conviviality for decades. The Salvi family is among the few who deserve credit for never giving up the art of being a host and pursuing quality, through consistency and perseverance in never giving in to the whims of the average Roman, always bringing their own ideas about tradition and top-quality ingredients to the table. It's one of the few places in the world where I always enjoy a few forkfuls of carbonara, made the way it used to be, when carbocreme didn't exist and carbonara was made just the way it was liked and how it came. Vegetables, fish, meat, mushrooms: everything always fresh and cooked with respect. The wine list is wonderful, extensive and in-depth, with a strong focus on artisanal wines as well as the great classics.

A family-run restaurant with a long tradition and very high quality.

Good neighborhood restaurant, high-quality food. The only downside is that the tables are too close together, making it difficult to communicate at the table.
