Il Cortegiano In Urbino

It looks unassuming from the square, and the first (and often only) restaurant you see isn't usually the best choice. But this one deserves top marks. We received a very friendly and professional welcome. We had the dish of the week: saffron risotto with green asparagus. Excellent. The Sangiovese della Casa was a perfect match. (The only downside is that the chairs aren't very comfortable.)

We visited Urbino...a beautiful place....and we entered the restaurant not knowing what the food was like....but we were very satisfied with everything...the food and the courtesy of the staff...thank you for everything...the first course was excellent and the suckling pig equally so.

The atmosphere is very unique yet pleasant. The dishes are simple yet authentic and well-prepared. The prices are more than reasonable. The service is attentive and attentive.

Located right in the center of Urbino, excellent first courses and side dishes, fair prices, good service. A great atmosphere, without a doubt.

This restaurant is right in front of Urbino Cathedral. The dining room could use a general makeover, but it's still welcoming, spacious, and clean. The service staff is extremely courteous, polite, and professional; it's very noticeable, and it was a pleasure to be served by such people. Food: truly high-quality, beautifully crafted dishes. The portions, even considering the dishes at nearby tables, were adequate to satisfy our hunger; prices were average. The person who gave us the bill was also welcoming, courteous, and helpful, even giving us a small, unsolicited discount and keeping our bill square. The cafeteria prices, too, are incredibly reasonable, considering it's a touristy and frequently visited location. We'll definitely be back, and thank you for the excellent meal and service.

5 February 2026 Lunch! We liked this little cafe restaurant so much that we went back for coffee a couple of times and on our last day in Urbino, we went back for lunch! It was amazing - strozzapreti with fresh asparagus and sausage, tagliatelle in a white cinghiale (wild boar) ragù, plus sides of insalata mista and the wonderfully named pomodori ignoranti (ignorant tomatoes 😂). Apparently cucina ignorante is all about rustic, rule-free cooking - simple and unfussy. Even the bread was delicious. For dessert we had torta di crema, pinoli e rum — custard and pine nut tart with a hint of rum. It was a wonderful memorable lunch! 1 February 2026 Afternoon coffee break We stopped by this cafe restaurant for an afternoon coffee break while visiting the Palazzo Ducale. The coffee was ok but we thought that the pistachio croissant and crostata were delicious. Big thumbs up for the friendly service and good pricing!

For us, Il Cortegiano is a place where enjoyment and atmosphere come together beautifully. The ambiance is stylish, tranquil, and yet very inviting – perfect for a relaxed evening in a special setting. The food delighted us with its refined, regional cuisine. Fresh ingredients, lovingly prepared, and perfectly balanced in flavor, made every dish a little highlight. The service was attentive, warm, and highly professional. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and return to anytime.

We had a first course and a second course with dessert, everything was good, good food with courteous and fast service.

I had kreša, a local specialty. The multi-layered dough resembles thin puff pastry, with a filling sandwiched between two layers and folded into a crescent shape. I wondered how to eat it, when I noticed someone at the opposite table eating the kreša they had shared with their companions, holding it in their hands. At first they struggled with a fork and knife, but then I tried eating it with my hands too. Perhaps it tasted even better that way. The service was quick and courteous. It seems they're only open for lunch, but it was such a great restaurant that I wish they'd open for dinner too.

Excellent restaurant, with a menu full of options. Typical Marche cuisine, well-prepared and beautifully served. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. Reasonable prices. Various types of homemade bread. Top-notch homemade desserts. Highly recommended.
