Il Capitano In

We had a family lunch for four. The food was delicious: baked potatoes in lemon sauce, potato gnocchi, and delicious grilled seafood. The kids devoured spaghetti with cheese and zucchini, one serving and half. The service was friendly but unobtrusive. Beautiful sea views. More flowers would have added charm. And the music was more classical Italian instead of pop.

My husband and I visited Positano for our 10 year wedding anniversary and we made reservations at Il Capitano for a romantic dinner. From the moment we arrived it was a magical experience. The location itself is absolutely beautiful. It has a spectacular view of Positano and the ocean. The restaurant is decorated to perfection. The service was 10/10. Very kind and attentive to us the entire time making sure we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. The food was amazing!!! They brought us some delicious little appetizers compliment of the chef as well as some bread and breadsticks. We ordered a Caprese salad for appetizer to share which was so fresh and delicious. My husband ordered the Lamb Wellington and I ordered the Cacio e Pepe with Tuna. The dinner was spectacular. We both really enjoyed the different take on the dishes and it had so much flavor. We also enjoyed some red wine throughout dinner and ended with an amazing tiramisu with cookie crumbles. Overall, this is a must if you're visiting Positano with your significant other or for a magical night with your friends and family!! Highly recommend.

We went to Il Capitano to celebrate our honeymoon and it was a wonderful experience. They surprised us with one of the best tables, with spectacular views that made the evening even more special. The food was delicious, carefully prepared, and made with high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere, service, and attentiveness were excellent. An unforgettable evening that we will always remember fondly. Thank you for making it so special!

My sister and I are food and wine lovers. We had the pleasure of dining at Il Capitan for the first time, and it was an unforgettable experience! The service was top-notch, and the breathtaking view of the coast added to the ambiance. Our manager, Luigi, was incredibly hospitable and attentive. The seafood was fresh and delicious – the sea bass was a catch of the day and linguine with clam sauce were highlights of our meal. Luigi also helped us select a wine that perfectly complemented our dishes, which became our favorite part of the meal. Falanghina wine - fruity, full body, hint of green mango, honeysuckle and complexity of the flavors infused beautifully with our seafood meal. The complimentary appetizers and dessert (limoncello) were a lovely touch. Luigi's attention to detail and commitment to ensuring we had an exceptional dining experience truly made our evening. We highly recommend Il Capitan to anyone visiting the coast. The combination of great food, excellent service, and stunning views makes it a must-visit destination.

Incredible dinner, views are stunning and food was very good. Service was excellent and while it’s a hike to get there, this was our favorite restaurant in Positano.

We came here for lunch around 1:30 and loved it. First thing to say though — if you’re walking from the main part of Positano, be prepared for a serious climb. Google Maps says 7 minutes, which it probably is if you sprint, but it’s basically 7 minutes of steep, relentless steps. Worth it though. Once you get up there, the views are absolutely incredible — you can see pretty much all of Positano from your table. The staff were great, really friendly and they made sure we had fans and shade which was much appreciated in the heat. Food was really good, nothing to fault there, and while it’s a little on the pricier side, it’s exactly what you’d expect for Positano with views like that. Would definitely recommend if you fancy a nice lunch with a view that makes the climb worth it.

Ambiance and view was absolutely stunning. A very calm atmosphere but scenic view. The food was 11/10. We had the Insalata Caprese (Caprese Salad), Frittura di calamari gamberi (Fried calamari & shrimp), Filetto di angel lo in Croatia (Lamb Wellington Fillet in chard crust) and the Spaghetti alla Nerano con Provolone del Monaco (Spaghetti Nerano Style with provolone del Monaco cheese). The lamb was full of flavors. I was not in the mood for fish, but they are well known for their fresh fish selection that you can hand choose from. I can also honestly say after trying multiple restaurants in Positano, this restaurant did have the most tasteful and flavorful food Positano has to offer. Rosanna was an absolute gem and made us feel like family. Luigi, the restaurant manager also took time throughout our time there to always make sure things were running smoothly and that we had seating that we wanted. Emanuel and Valnito (I apologize if I’m spelling the names incorrectly) were also amazing.

Che dire... Unica! Un'esperienza davvero unica ho letto che vale il viaggio a Positano, confermo e sottoscrivo. Ultima sera a Positano nonché secondo anniversario, non potevamo scegliere meglio. Lasciamo stare la location che parla da sola... Il servizio, una coccola unica, le portate una delizia prima per gli occhi e poi per il palato, l'atmosfera? Direi magica. Rossana ed Emmanuel, oltre al resto della "ciurma" dei veri anfitrióni :-)
