We found this restaurant by chance and were delighted. We tried the cheeses and game, everything was delicious. The service was fast, but they should pay more attention to the wines. We'll be back!

When I think of the Abruzzo hinterland, there's one word that immediately conjures up images of local cuisine: game. And what better place than a restaurant called Il Cacciatore to sample game-based dishes? The rather modern restaurant somewhat betrays the rustic feel its name suggests, but the atmosphere remains warm and familiar thanks to the friendly and attentive service. We began with a platter of cheeses of varying ages, produced directly on the premises: a true delight! Each cheese had a distinct personality, with intense flavors that were never overpowering. From the one aged in whiskey to the real winner of the dish, the chestnut cheese, every bite was an explosion of flavor. The first course was the star of the dinner: homemade pappardelle with wild boar ragù. While the pasta was perfectly rolled out and cooked, the ragù surpassed this excellence thanks to the balanced flavors and the taste of the quality meat. Many compliments indeed. Moving on to the main courses, we shared some grilled tagliata and the mixed game, consisting of wild boar, roe deer, and venison. The tagliata were excellent, especially the one with porcini mushrooms, cooked to our specifications and enhanced by the smoky aroma and flavor of the grill. The mixed game, however, was the sore point of the evening: alongside a wild boar stew that was probably one of the best I've ever tasted, there was a roe deer that was too dry and tough, with an excessively gamey flavor, and a venison that was also integer and lacking any distinctive flavor. A real shame. The side dish of turnip greens partially improved the situation, pairing the dishes well. The red wine and Abruzzo gentian were fully approved; the local options are numerous and delicious. I'll definitely be back when I'm in Abruzzo again, especially to try that wild boar, which is truly worth it. The prices are truly excellent.

Trattoria Fore le Mura da Franchino

28/02/2026: I completely agree with everything I've read in other reviews. A small, dated trattoria located outside the walls of a virtually uninhabited village. The selection isn't very varied, but the owner, who is a real character, guides you expertly. The generous appetizer is enough. I've had the best arrosticini in the area here.
23/02/2026: More than a restaurant, it's a home...and Franco, the true master, welcomes you like family! Excellent food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a wonderful atmosphere! The price?! For what we ate, it's even reasonable. I'll be back soon! Always call to reserve!

Le Sequoie

21/03/2026: For a round of the Italian Enduro Championship, I stopped at this hotel for both the night and dinner. I have to say that looking at it from the outside, both because of its location and the surrounding buildings, I wasn't thrilled, but I hadn't booked it. So I walked in, and I have to say, right from the reception, I began to change my mind. The staff were friendly, welcoming, the furnishings simple but well-appointed, and the cleanliness was evident. The room was beautiful and very spacious, with fresh, timeless furnishings, and it was immediately apparent that it was immaculately clean. I went down to the restaurant, and here I said to myself, "Never let appearances fool you." It's truly beautiful, with beautiful, high wooden ceilings, well-set tables, and above all, kind, smiling, and competent service. I'll save dinner for last, which I have to say was the icing on the cake. Everything was well-made and of excellent quality. What can I say? I recommend it, and if I'm in the area again, I'll be back.
18/03/2026: Dad Claudio (known as Lallo) is an extremely kind and friendly person. He engages in a courteous and discreet conversation with his guests. From our point of view, it's not just formality or work-related reasons, but rather a genuinely cordial attitude. He doesn't treat you just as a "customer," but as someone to be put at ease. He makes you feel like part of the family. And I'd say that given our hectic lifestyle, with human relationships reduced to a minimum, this kind of behavior is good for both the individual and the heart, especially when, even on a pleasure trip, you're far from home and your loved ones. That said, after our first stay at the Hotel Le Sequoie, we had an excellent time and, as a logical consequence, we've stayed at least five more times... and they won't be the last, at least in the winter. Although, to be honest, the two pools are tempting us for when the warmer weather arrives. A truly unique experience, having stayed at many hotels in Italy (sometimes very renowned), thus having a very valid and reliable basis for comparison. We once again extend our heartfelt thanks to Emiliano, Silvia, and their father Claudio (known as Lallo) for all they do with professionalism and love. Nunzia and Massimo.
