We found it at the last minute and at a time that promised to be empty, but thanks to the helpful and courteous staff, we were able to have lunch.
A very well-kept and renovated restaurant in a charming setting with brick and stone vaults, typical of the Abruzzo mountain villages; not to mention the delicious and well-served dishes.
Last but not least, the restaurant is pet-friendly; we have an Abruzzo sheepdog, so we had a great time and really appreciated the hospitality!

Reaching the restaurant requires a short walk through the alleys after parking near the town hall. The atmosphere is quaint and charming, enhanced by the view of the lake just steps away. We tried the antipasto del borgo: dry fried foods, while cured meats and cheeses were average. The strozzapreti were less balanced, with the ricotta overpowering the other flavors. The arrosticini, on the other hand, were excellent, succulent and flavorful. The staff was friendly, although I would have appreciated a more detailed description of the dishes served at the table.

We had already eaten at this small but welcoming restaurant last year, and as before, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the dishes we consumed, all of which were excellent. We found the welcome, service, and quality to be excellent, combined with a fair price. I recommend it without a doubt.

This restaurant in the historic center of Barrea offers traditional Abruzzo dishes. The pasta with porcini mushrooms and truffles is spectacular, definitely the best I've had in the area. The tegomino appetizer is also excellent. They're dog-friendly, which is another plus. I highly recommend coming here; it was a wonderful lunch. This is our second visit and we'll definitely be back!

We stopped for lunch at Borgo Antico during a stop in Villetta Barrea, and it was a wonderful discovery. The cuisine is truly excellent, with generous and flavorful dishes that showcase local products. The appetizers, in particular, are a must-try. A rich and carefully selected selection is worth a stop here alone. The atmosphere is warm, familiar, and welcoming, the restaurant is quaint, and the staff are friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you're passing through Villetta Barrea, stopping for lunch at Borgo Antico is a must: you'll leave feeling full and satisfied, eager to return soon!

Tucked away in the village of Barrea, this intimate and refined restaurant offers everything from the scomorza (sausage, truffle, and porcini mushrooms) to the white venison ragù. Don't forget the arrosticini (skewers) and the delicious dark chocolate paired with aged spirits. Friendly and helpful service.
