When we came for lunch, every table in the multi-room restaurant was buzzing with happy diners. The waitstaff did an admirable job bringing dozens of orders hot from the kitchen and even though it did not look as if a table was available, the accommodating host found us a place in the warren of rooms.
This is an old-style family-run trattoria, full of history and evidently beloved by locals. The menu is large and includes all the local specialties. Prices could not be lower but the quality is excellent. We loved the cavatieddi ccò sucu rì maiali and the generous bollito of veal. The wine selection offers inexpensive choices but the restaurant also serves some excellent Sicilian craft beers.

Never was a more apt name.
Here you find flavors of the past. The ones you could taste at your grandmother's. Poor dishes but with a rich and generous taste.
To demonstrate what was enjoyed, I do not propose the usual photo of the dish before eating it but after. There is no need to wash it. And I think that is enough to express my excellent opinion.
Optimal. We will meet again very soon and I will come in the company of another sensitive palate.

If you want to eat REAL typical food, in an AUTHENTIC trattoria environment but with style, paying tavern prices.... You're in the right place. And what's more, you're also right in the center of Modica! That's why it was packed on a Thursday lunch in early January. Full of locals btw. Very kind young waitress, worth mentioning. Cavateddi da shoe, very tasty pasta with macco, just like at home with grandma. Mixed rustic appetizer sufficient for two people. Strong house red wine but better than the average house reds around. What more can I say?

We spent wonderful days in Syracuse visiting many wonderful places. The icing on the cake was the discovery of this restaurant.
Delicious and authentic food, trained and kind staff, very honest prices.

Excellent typical cuisine. From the outside you can't imagine how big the restaurant is. The tables have beautiful tablecloths and the caponata is fabulous.

Great food, lost flavors as the name says. The pasta with maccu ri favi is fantastic, and quite filling. Also the ravioli with pork sauce, typical of the area, very very good (my son made the shoe), typical Ragusa appetizer, excellent service.
