An unexpected and wonderful experience. We stopped for lunch to break up the journey and were greeted with kindness, warmth, and super helpfulness. The food was excellent for a quick lunch, with choices for all tastes and the willingness to adapt dishes with vegetarian options. The Lampredotto sandwich and stuffed schiacciata were 5 stars. Service 5/5

The restaurant is a bit hidden from the road our GPS indicated, but there are signs showing you how to get there (just a few minutes); it's very close to the highway exit. We ate outside on the comfortable and breezy patio. The focaccia stuffed with mortadella was excellent, as was the generous and high-quality platter. My son enjoyed the porchetta, but the chicken steak was a bit bland. The one-star reduction was for a large salad consisting of mozzarella, a few black olives, two lettuce leaves, and a few slices of tomato, which was sparse and unappetizing. Three cans of Coke and a coffee rounded out our meal. Service was courteous and quick. All for the "modest" 😂😂😂 price tag of €72.

On our way to Florence, we planned a lunch stop, choosing this trattoria based on the many positive reviews. However, we weren't prepared for such grace, warmth, and a warm welcome from the owner and his entire family. Benzina has a special light in her eyes when she talks about her ingredients, her sauces, and how they're prepared, as well as the timing, which is absolutely essential if you want to bring out the best in each ingredient. Benzina welcomed us, listened, and accommodated our every request and curiosity with the enthusiasm of someone who, even after many years in business, still pours passion and heart into her creations. She recommended pairings: a fantastic, crumbly and crispy focaccia, perfectly leavened and airy, filled with that magical ingredient that is their flavorful and delicious lampredotto, paired perfectly with a mind-blowing salsa verde! Next up was the classic stuffed sandwich, with a spicy sauce twist—super tasty!—and finally, small samples of tripe in sauce and various lampredotto parts. To wash it all down, a good glass of Chianti, full-bodied and generous, almost snuggling into your stomach. Benzina's lampredotto and its delicious focaccia, available to take away, stayed with us even in the days that followed, back home, where we're still enjoying and talking about this wonderful experience, definitely worth repeating! 15/04/2026: This restaurant is a huge disappointment. The food is not ok, definitely overcharged. The hot plates are tepid and the taste is… there is not much taste. The risotto ball from the seafood menu has a very appealing “Volcano and Lava” look, but it has a very hard and firm exterior instead of crispy and crunchy. Not mentioning the spaghetti with no salt, and the ice-cream filled with ice pieces. What really makes me very uncomfortable is that: we were the first guests arrived that night WITH a reservation. However, a waitress seated us in the worst spot - very tight space between two doors, one leads to the kitchen and toilet, and the other one to another dinning room. This means, people (waiters and other guests) continuously and super closely passing us every 5 seconds through the whole dinner time, bringing the breeze and the tiny “earthquake“ (thanks to the loosen floor). What makes this worse: Another group (also 3 people) came right AFTER us, was seated by the window with a street view and with a romantically decorated leafy wall. The same waitress, during our first plate, came to the table and asked if she could already take the plates away… (Everyone’s plate was just half finished, we sent no signs of finishing with the cutlery…) It seemed that she really wanted us to finish quickly and kicked us out of there… Therefore, if you still want to try with this restaurant, I would recommend to walk-in directly and say no to this awfully located table and their seafood menu. We understand that Florence is extremely touristic, but this was literally the only bad dinning experience we had there.
24/03/2026: We had breakfast there all three days of our stay in Florence; it was included with our hotel reservation. The breakfast was excellent, a buffet, and highly recommended. They had homemade pastries, freshly baked, and a good variety. There were fewer savory options, but everything was delicious. I loved it!

Ristorante Rosso Crudo

12/01/2026: Great location, very nice and helpful staff. Very good food.
11/01/2026: We were in Florence on vacation last week. We had booked elsewhere, but then, given the reviews, we decided to cancel and book at Rosso Crudo (also thanks to the fact it was right next door). Reservation at 9:30 PM with The Fork. The staff were very welcoming. We asked and specified that we had a reservation and a discount with The Fork. We were informed that menus and drinks were not included, so we ordered à la carte. The food was good quality, but there were some oversights that prevented us from fully enjoying the dinner. We ordered: an appetizer with typical cured meats and cheeses, and so far so good. Two first courses: the ingredients were good quality, but one was cooked (al dente) and therefore edible; the other was literally raw; the pappardelle didn't even turn, and with every bite you could see the uncooked layer of pasta. Al dente is fine, but it must be edible. A Florentine steak: served cold (perhaps because the reservation was so close to closing time) and on a wooden cutting board, not on lava stone (despite having initially requested this to allow for further cooking or at least keep it "warm"). The meat was initially very raw (see photo above left), not rare, but very raw (the animal could still have been alive). We specifically asked (despite the fact that the kitchen had seen everything washed and cleaned) for it to be brought to us on the stone and cooked a little longer. Result: the meat was very tough (in the photo on the right, the meat as it should have been cooked... unfortunately, it was now tough, having been reheated over the heat for a few more minutes). After this was pointed out, both politely and as a suggestion, we were told that the cut was too thin for the lava stone. (Not that we wanted to be right, but the meat was truly inedible at first). It's a shame, because qualitatively speaking, it's a good place. We would have appreciated it if, during the reservation process, we were informed that, being close to closing time (11:00 PM), they couldn't guarantee the success of some dishes. At the final stage of payment, our table had "disappeared" from the computer, so a waiter who hadn't taken our order had to recalculate, initially without the order. While entering the items, I realized he had entered items we hadn't ordered, and the meat had a different price per pound. After pointing out that they weren't the items we had ordered, he apologized, and only then did the waiter who had taken the order approach the cash register with the paper on which he had written the order. The fact remains that, despite our suspicions, we trust in the good faith of the shopkeepers to not take advantage of tourists. I recommend going for lunch at this point if you want to enjoy the food.
