On a hot day, ice cream is a must-try, and it's best to try it in several places, even on the same day. That's exactly what happened today. A local's recommendation of this place must have been a resounding success, and in my opinion, gelati di piero is the number one in this city.

Great gelateria in the heart of Lucca. The price is quite fair compared to the rising standards of Italian cities (2 scoops/ 3.20€) and the flavours are really top notch. Not too sweet, but genuinely unforgettable. I had their originals Grazie Nonna (zabaione, chocolate ancd cookies) and Girone dei Golosi (dark chocolate and orange), and I was pleasantly surprised. A special note goes to the con as well, wich has a very specific and flavourful taste. Only one downside: it melts quite fast.

13/07/2026: Fantastic pizza (easily top3 in the last 10 years), great service and an outside seating area with shade and NO mosquitoes! You’ll find me here most days now. Wow.
