We spent a pleasant family evening at the historic restaurant "Da Giorgio" in Viareggio, a place that exudes a warm, old-world atmosphere, making you feel immediately at ease. The atmosphere is welcoming, with a retro charm that makes the experience unique.
The menu won us over with its traditional dishes. We ordered a trabaccolara alla Giorgio, simply wonderful, and spaghetti with clams, fresh and well-executed. For our daughter, we chose a first course with fresh tomatoes and gurnard, simple yet tasty, perfect for little ones. For the main course, we tried the Viareggio-style squid, flavorful and well-prepared, and a small sea bream with porcini mushrooms, a delicious combination that surprised the palate.
The waiter who looked after us was excellent, attentive, and courteous, making the dinner even more enjoyable. However, the service overall was a bit slow, perhaps due to the crowds. The prices aren't exactly affordable, but the quality of the ingredients makes up for it.
Ultimately, “Da Giorgio” is an experience we highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic flavors in a unique atmosphere.

The appetizers were very interesting, some a real treat, others (only two) overly salty. I recommend those who order the mixed fried fish to skip the paranza and just order the shrimp and squid. Overall, a great place, even if the price seems a bit steep.

It was recommended to me, and I started thinking: when you create expectations, sometimes they don't match what you feel. Instead, everything was fantastic.
The appetizers, first courses, and second courses were excellent, and everything was fresh.

The place is very cozy and traditional, still maintained to this day, run by the founder's grandson (three generations). The dishes are tasty, the portions are just right for one person (not for sharing). NOTE: The €5 per person charge seems a bit steep, but I suppose it's higher because they give you a large plate of fried shrimp to share as a "welcome gift." It's not a budget-friendly restaurant, but I do recommend it for a try; it has good products, flavor, and service. 😋
I recommend trying the spaghetti trabaccolara and the spaghetti arselle e bottarga.

Ristorante storico e sempre ottimo!
