This is the place to get gelato in Trieste. Period. The gelato has a properly creamy texture and intense, well-defined flavors. The portions are generous. There is frequently a queue outside, but the quality of the ice cream fully justifies the wait. A practical tip for your visit is to grab a number from the ticketing machine right when you arrive. After that, you simply wait for your number to be called or displayed on the screen before heading in. Once you are inside the shop there is no pressure from the crowd waiting on the street. The staff is friendly even when the area outside is completely packed. You have time to look over the large assortment of available options without rushing your decision. The four of us managed to try about seven different flavors altogether, and every single one was highly enjoyable. The dark chocolate with orange bits, the tiramisu, and the salted caramel were particular standouts for us, though the list of great choices could easily go on. The overall service and quality left such a good impression that we returned the very next day for another visit. Just come and try for yourself.

The idea of ​​putting a visible fresh gelato dispenser is brilliant; I've never seen one like this in Italy. To get in, you get a number. The gelato is very good, but for €2.30 a scoop, the portion could have been much more generous than what we got.
