Surfer Joe One of those simple yet delightful discoveries, perfect for a relaxing break with a sea view, unpretentious but with plenty of atmosphere. Tiki Italy, overlooking Livorno's splendid Terrazza Mascagni, immediately strikes you with its location: outdoor tables, sea air, a relaxed atmosphere, and that almost vacation-like feeling, even if you're just there for a quick lunch. The place is very charming, informal yet well-kept, with plenty of seating and a style reminiscent of American diners with a maritime twist. Inside, it's also pleasant, with a truly charming vintage atmosphere. The food is a hit: generous and tasty sandwiches, good ingredients, crispy fries, and satisfying portions. The option of lighter options, like fresh and well-seasoned salads, is also excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful, despite the place being packed. The only small flaw was the somewhat long wait, but honestly, given the number of people and the constant comings and goings, that's understandable. Overall, a truly pleasant place to eat slowly, gazing at the sea and enjoying Livorno in the simplest and most beautiful way possible.

For a lunch break by the sea, a dinner with friends, or a quick coffee, this is ALWAYS the perfect place. The staff welcomes you with a smile and professionalism. The colorful and cheerful interior, the relaxed exterior with the scent of the sea... What more could you ask for?

We were hungry, so we gave this spot a shot. Having American food in Italy, seemed as a lunacy at first. But we werent disappointed.

Enjoyed a cappuccino here with lactose free milk for €1.80 and was able to sit in the sun and enjoy the view. Great place !

It's a nice diner in a good location, unfortunately one of the few restaurants in this great spot. The outdoor seating area is also pleasant, but there's no table service. The owner is really friendly and tries hard, but two of the waitresses are not at all. I was told off twice for not being able to just get a table and having to wait. I understand that, and I can read the signs. My father, however, had already been seated at a table by another waiter – we just wanted to join him. It was inattentive enough for the waitresses not to notice, and they could have addressed it in a more polite tone. After all, they should want you to want to come back. The food is great. Typical American fare: fresh, delicious, and nothing to complain about. 😊 Even when the restaurant is packed, the food arrives quite quickly. Unfortunately, it's also quite noisy when the place is full.

I had an aperitivo here in December and had a great time. The service was quick despite the crowds.

Surfer Joe's restaurant is located on Livorno's picturesque Terrazza Mascagni, in a prime location with a high tourist traffic and stunning landscape. In an urgent situation, my wife and I stopped in for a quick meal, politely informing the staff that we needed a quick meal and that we would not be using the tables. Despite the request being clearly and politely expressed, the response we received was unfortunately unwelcoming and surly, demonstrating a customer service approach that falls short of the standards expected of a business open to the public. It's understandable that the high traffic and operational stress may impact the staff's attitude, however, we hope for an improvement in the quality of communication and hospitality, aspects as crucial as the food offerings, especially in such a prominent and iconic location for the city.
