25/03/2025: That fantastic Thursday is over the years and in all seasons a confirmation of excellent catering and quality.
The menu is always adequate, varied enough and is renewed from time to time.
The staff is very kind, respectful and worthy. The environment is elegant and refined, but also very hospitable and welcoming. In short, a mix of refinement, luxury and humility...very rare and effective.
Very honest prices, considering that for many imitations you pay even 20/30% more in the city.
24/03/2025: We had lunch with the family taking advantage of our visit to Ferrara.
As usual, for the choice of restaurants we rely on the Michelin guide, but this time with this restaurant I don't think it has reached the standard of a restaurant in the Michelin guide that we usually find in the places we go.
The girl who caught and served us is really good and kind, while the same is not true for the older lady who I assume is either the owner or in any case in charge of the room. In fact, apart from the joke about having ordered a few dishes (unfortunately my mother has undergone stomach surgery so she can't eat too much and for this reason, even though there were 4 of us, we ordered for 3, but in any case I'm a paying customer so the reason for my choices shouldn't matter), at a certain point during the change of tables of two couples I noticed with regret that to bring the dishes he placed everything on the sofa at the entrance to the restaurant, where people constantly pass by and you can also sit there, so not much hygienic considering that the diners will then carry those cutlery into their mouths. Furthermore, one of these couples was told to bring their jacket into the closet, which we are not here either, firstly because it is a service that you as manager of the place should do and secondly because on the other hand in that closet there are everyone's overcoats, and it is not certain that the lady who was given authorization to wander around inside the closet was an honest person or could rummage through other people's jackets and bags.
Moving on to the food, if they focused more on tradition they could even get to the Michelin star, everything we ordered, including desserts, traditional was really excellent, while the passatelli asciutti were really bland and above all they had exceeded the cooking time by a long time, while the passatello must maintain a certain consistency otherwise the yield of such a simple and peasant dish but also delicious at the same time would be ruined.
Another point to bring to attention is the selection of focaccias and breads to be consumed while waiting or together with the dishes, usually in restaurants a much more refined selection is offered and above all the breads and gnocchi are not so reheated but always have the consistency and flavor of freshly baked bread or in any case made that same morning.
For the choice of wines, well, what can I say, isn't there a sommelier in the room? Because the girl, as cute as she was, wasn't able to tell us exactly what to pair with the dishes, but I don't think it was her fault, someone should take care of the drinking part and accompany the customer in learning about the wine he's pairing with the dish.
In short, after various experiences in Michelin guide restaurants I wonder why this place appears, it is truly excellent as a tavern but not enough to deserve the attention of such a selection.
