Delicious ice cream. Really good. The waitress was very nice, but when the owners arrived, it was a different story. They were very rude. They opened the door on me and insisted, pushing it against my leg as if I didn't exist. Without asking me to move nicely. Really rude...

If you’re near the Centrale area and craving gelato, Gelateria Paganelli is a solid choice! This family-run gelateria has a long history, and you can tell from the care they put into their gelato. The staff (or perhaps they're the owners?) were also very warm and friendly. We even had a nice little chat while ordering, as they were curious about where we came from. 😀
I tried the nocciola and fior di latte, and both were excellent. The texture was smooth and creamy with just the right sweetness. The nocciola stood out for its rich, nutty flavor made from the best Piedmont hazelnuts.
Paganelli was also previously awarded the coveted Tre Coni, the highest distinction from Gambero Rosso given only to Italy’s top gelaterie... and it truly lives up to that recognition!

It's good, but for Italian ice cream, it's not up to scratch.
The straciatella is bland. The peanut-banana ice cream has a lackluster texture, and it's not just the peanut powder in it; the problem is the ice crystals, as if the freezing wasn't even, as if the gelato hadn't been stirred well during freezing. (I should add: regardless of the method that led to this result, the texture is unpleasant, and you can't really taste the flavor. It's not up to par with other Italian gelato shops.)
The pistachio ice cream is good, but it's made with pistachio cream, so it's a bit too sweet. It's creamy, not bad, but not 100%.

Just walked by and noticed it was busy, so we decided to give it a try. The gelato was good — creamy and not too sweet. Not my favorite, but I’d be happy to come back and try other flavors if I get the chance.

This gelateria was recommended to us by expert guide Elizabeth Jones. Just as she told us, the gelato is superb. The Paganelli family has been making gelato for just about 100 years. Francesco is the third generation. As Elizabeth told us, if a gelateria makes fresh gelatos from local fruits in season, that is a tell. Over two visits, we sampled hazelnut, fig, Sicilian orange, American grape and melon with szechuan pepper. All outstanding. Highly recommended. The Paganellis are as nice as their gelato is delicious.

Amazing gelato with several unusual flavors, yet refined and never banal. You can immediately taste the passion and expertise behind this gelato, spanning generations. Highly recommended. Prices in line with the quality and... Milan.
