A very welcoming and informal place, with friendly and prompt service. The wait for the dishes is truly short, just as long as you order. The ingredients are top-quality, the flavors explode in your mouth, and you can clearly taste every element of the dish. A good selection of wines, very friendly staff, and each course is served with detailed explanations to help you enjoy it to the fullest. A fantastic experience. If we're in the Modena area again, we'll definitely be back.

Exceptional flavors met with inconsistent service and wine pairing. ​I had mixed feelings about my experience at Franceschetta58. While the kitchen produces some truly world-class flavors, the overall flow of the evening and the wine program fell short of expectations. ​The Highlights: ​The Food: The Tortellono was spectacular, and the Pumpkin and Citrus Fruits dessert was absolutely fantastic. Every dish was served with impeccable presentation. ​Atmosphere: The restaurant has a very cozy and relaxed vibe, making it a comfortable spot for a high-end meal. ​Service & Facilities: The staff was cordial and attentive throughout the night. Additionally, the bathrooms were spotless, and the convenience of free street parking is a big plus. ​Areas for Improvement: ​The Wine Program: This was the most disappointing part. The wines in the pairing were underwhelming (all scoring around 89 points), which didn't match the caliber of the food. Furthermore, the pours were quite small—not even enough to last until the end of the course. ​Service Timing: There was a significant lag. Our wine was served well before the food arrived, leaving us with empty glasses by the time we actually started eating. ​Language Barrier: While the staff was friendly, the server struggled with English vocabulary when explaining the dishes, which made it difficult to fully appreciate the menu's nuances. ​Flavor Balance: A few dishes leaned a bit too heavy on bitter notes, overshadowing the other ingredients. ​Verdict: A beautiful space with high-quality ingredients, but the wine selection and the synchronization between the cellar and the kitchen need refinement to truly deliver a seamless experience.

Given its reputation, I had high expectations, but it was still a great experience. I ordered the tasting course, which focused on local ingredients. The intensity of the dishes, the delicate balance that matched their strengths, was so expressive that I felt like I could empathize with what they were trying to convey as a customer through the dish and wine pairing process. The harmony of the earthy aroma and subtle sweetness of the sweet potato cake for dessert, and the way the sauce connected to the cake through cocoa powder, were truly memorable. This place has excellent sommeliers, so I highly recommend the wine pairing. The service was excellent, but the meticulous attention from the Korean female sommelier in particular made me feel comfortable and allowed me to connect seamlessly with the kitchen as a customer. Thank you.

We arrived at 7:45 PM, with an 8:00 PM reservation. Despite the rain, we were asked to wait outside until the exact time of our reservation: a less than ideal start, which ruined our first impression. Once seated, the service was undoubtedly attentive and meticulous, perhaps even overly formal in some circumstances. For example, I went to the counter to ask for a paper napkin and was told it would be brought to my table: certainly a polite gesture, but considering I was already there, it would have been easier to just hand it to me. Another incident involved the eel rice, which we didn't finish because we didn't like it. When asked how our dinner went, we responded diplomatically, but the staff persisted, staring at our almost-full plate. In the end, we almost felt compelled to justify ourselves, when in reality, the dish hadn't convinced us: the rice, unfortunately, didn't live up to our expectations. The burgers, on the other hand, were very good. Having ordered à la carte, they were served without the card that apparently accompanies the tasting menu, in a friendly fast-food style. Perhaps it would be nice to standardize the presentation, to make the experience more coherent. Overall, the experience was decent, but in a place of this caliber—even considering the price—you always expect the best, both from the service and, above all, from the cuisine. And unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. I'd been here a few years ago, and after this second visit, I had the feeling it still wasn't the right place for us.

Excellent modern bistro. We booked for lunch in January and chose to try the "Evolving Tradition" tasting menu (€64 per person), to which we added a wine pairing (three glasses for €22) and tortellini (€13 per person). There's nothing to complain about with the quality of the food: the dishes are well-executed, and the wine selection is truly excellent. Honestly, though, with the exception of one dish, the promised evolution gives way to a cuisine very rooted in tradition, with simple ingredients and linear flavors. I found the final bill a bit high for the overall experience. The service, however, was impeccable: the wait staff was extremely kind and professional. The atmosphere is modern, furnished in a simple yet pleasant way.

As a huge fan of Massimo Bottura, visiting Franceschetta58 in Modena was a highlight of our December 2025 trip. This bistrot, founded by Bottura and led by the incredibly talented Chef Francesco Vincenzi, offers a more accessible but equally brilliant taste of the Francescana philosophy. We went for the tasting menu, and two dishes truly stood out. First, the tortellini by Il Tortellante, these are handmade by a wonderful social project in Modena that teaches the art of pasta-making to young people with autism. They were served in a rich Parmigiano Reggiano cream and were perfection. Second, the legendary Emilia Burger. It’s unlike any burger you've had: a patty made of beef mixed with cotechino gelatin and Parmigiano, served with salsa verde and balsamic mayonnaise in a soft brioche bun. Pure genius. The wine list is curated. It’s not endless, but every bottle has a great quality-to-price ratio. The service is exceptional; you can tell the team is trained to the world-class standards of one of the world's best restaurateurs. A must-visit!

Chef Massimo's accessible restaurant in his hometown offers some brilliant dishes, such as his pasta with red prawns. The restaurant is bright and modern, reminiscent of Casa Maria Luigia. The staff is very attentive and helpful, offering advice on everything. A truly excellent experience.

We came for New Year's Eve. There were two of us sitting at the bar. The dinner was fantastic, starting with the welcome snacks. Throughout the dinner, the wait staff pampered us: we never wanted a glass of wine, they were always attentive to everything, and they even recommended which wine to accompany the dishes. The food was fantastic, from the simplest ingredients to the Galician beef. Kudos to the kitchen, which surprised us with every dish. Overall, we had a wonderful time and had a great time, ending a lovely New Year's Eve. Thanks for joining CML.

Ristorante Cinese Chinatown

03/02/2026: A typical Chinese restaurant with period furnishings: a mirrored ceiling, revolving tables, and an aquarium. For those who appreciate this style, like me, it's a very nice place! Good food, fast service, takeout available, and a summer garden. Suitable for couples, families, and groups. One of the city's historic Chinese restaurants.
