A wonderful experience! Each course is a journey that begins with the aromas of Sicily and extends to distant horizons, with cooking techniques that enhance the raw ingredients in a way that is never banal. Kudos to the staff in the dining room: extremely kind, cheerful, knowledgeable, and attentive without ever being intrusive. The outdoor garden is also truly enchanting, intimate and immersed in a relaxing atmosphere.

What a treat it was here. Not only is it a beautiful location, the service is truly fantastic and the food is really top-notch! Very good wine suggestions with the dishes, as well as the option for beer or non-alcoholic drinks. Highly recommended!

An enchanting location in a palazzo with an ancient lemon grove in the center of Modica. Top-notch cuisine. It's a surprise that awaits us at the end of Vicolo Napolitano, which is certainly not an avenue. The well-spaced and beautifully set tables are caressed by magical breezes of cool air and invite quiet conversation. This is a rare feature that deserves its due, as is the owner and chef, a master of younger chefs, who never ceases to amaze, showcasing ancient Sicilian recipes masterfully revisited. It's an event not to be missed and offers the opportunity to appreciate the menu's variations, which change with the seasons. Last night's visit allowed us to confirm this assessment. A year later, and with the Covid disaster in the midst of it all, tonight, July 15th, after traveling 1,600 km between yesterday and today, we wanted to celebrate the embrace of our Sicily here with Gianluca and Emilia, almost as if they were the ones entrusted with the task of welcoming us. Sublime dinner... UPDATE today, May 5, 2021. I called Emilia, who confirmed the news: this season she will be at Ciccio Sultano's Bistrot I Banchi, and Gianluca will be at Ciccio Sultano's Duomo in Ragusa. UPDATE JULY 2022: Together, they collaborate with Lorenzo Ruta at Taverna Migliore in Modica. Today, July 20, 2025, a reconnaissance visit to the restaurant: the tables don't have tablecloths, but the food is absolutely excellent, with stunning combinations. Neretto salad with zucchini and ville in agro Imperial Apulia with caroye and sumac ketchup and Marisa sauce Pastatredda with slipper lobster, bergamot, and lemongrass Fried moray eel with Mauro seaweed and plums, and a spicy sauce, and to finish Peach in Grandmarnier sauce with almond ice cream and peach compote. A year later, an update (July 2026): the two daughters of the master Barone continue with excellent skill in the search for ever new combinations that enhance the products of this magnificent land.

I am currently 4 dishes into a 6 dish tasting menu that's blowing my mind, slightly tipsy on the best wine pairing I've ever had, on the most beautiful private terrace I've ever dined in. The dishes are inventive but hyper-local. The wines as well are Sicilian and hard to find, and bursting with flavour. The terrace is stunning, with gorgeous, manicured trees erupting from the paving stones, and a stunning estate hidden among the rooftops of modica. The service is enthusiastic and passionate and personal. This place should be booked months in advance. That I was able to walk in today was a true blessing. It is genuinely slightly hard to find, but it's hiding just off the main street down the most gorgeous alley you've ever wandered down, and magic awaits at the end of the alley.
