Lisa Anselmi and Paolo Pagliarini’s wine bar-restaurant – on the flower-filled piazza beside Soave’s medieval Scaligeri castle – is full of dark wood, rich colours, delicious food and distinctive wines. Lisa is the daughter of maverick winemaker Roberto Anselmi, who in 2000 made a Super Tuscan-style break from the Soave appellation. A meal here is the perfect opportunity to try Roberto’s wines as they’re intended to be enjoyed, alongside delicious regional dishes like vitello tonnato, white asparagus risotto (in season) and crunchy little sbrisolona cookies. The menu highlights the cuisine of Verona and Vicenza alongside casual offerings like pulled pork burgers and Caesar salads. And the wine list spans the Veneto region and beyond, with all of the Anselmi wines available by the glass. Service is professional and friendly and the atmosphere, relaxed and welcoming.

Very refined atmosphere, excellent service both in terms of kindness and professionalism, refined, abundant and tasty dishes, excellent plating, more than fair price.

We had a great time, both in terms of the menu and the service, the girls were competent, well-prepared and kind.

We ate wonderfully, the rib-eye steak was extraordinary, the tartare was amazing, and the cheese tasting was fantastic! A bonus for Benedetta, who gave us excellent advice, and we even tasted the extraordinary Anselmi passito wine at the end! 🎀
