Fantastic experience! My family and I found it by chance in Santo Stefano and we were practically the only ones. The service was impeccable, the quality of the fish and dishes superb! We felt like we were at home. Not to mention the environment, it feels like you're on a real boat. Highly recommended ⭐

My friend and I recently went back to El Fornel and loved it again - it's been six years since our last visit, but the atmosphere and quality remain excellent. The restaurant is furnished with great attention to detail in the fishing style: blue and white colors and maritime decoration with ship elements create a unique, authentic ambience. The owner and the entire team are incredibly friendly and accommodating, you just feel completely comfortable and welcome. The food was, as always, a delight: we had cozze (mussels) as a starter and perfectly grilled fish for the main course - simply fantastic in terms of taste and quality. If you appreciate good food at a fair price and a warm, authentic atmosphere, I can only warmly recommend El Fornel. We'll definitely be back!

A little away from the main tourist routes but worth discovering. Characteristic furnishings and a very kind owner: it feels like being in the family. Thank you very much: we hope to be able to return soon!!!

The restaurant is a little hidden but the guy who welcomed us immediately made us feel at home, which is very important as a first impression. Bravo. Excellent and plentiful food and much appreciated tranquility of the place.

A place located in an alley which, despite being a few steps from Piazza Unità, is not very visible. Inside it is very particular, in a nautical and slightly chaotic style which gives it a character of its own. In the kitchen two spouses who are no longer very young and in the dining room a very affable gentleman with the air of an old innkeeper. We ate mixed fried fish and stewed cuttlefish with polenta. A quarter of still white wine, locally produced, normal, drinkable. The filtered water is included in the cover charge, a little high for my standards but in line with the local average, with homemade bread served hot. Homemade dishes, fresh raw materials, an excellent experience. If you are looking for form and style, you don't have to turn the corner, but if you want to eat excellent fish in a familiar, quiet and unconventional environment, the place is the right one. Reasonable prices for the quality and for being in the center of Trieste. We spent 42 euros in total.

Highly recommended! A nice discovery, a non-touristy place, a very kind waiter passionately explains the dishes and recommends them, not everything is always present but only the dishes with the fresh catch of the day. Delicious and complete cold appetizer, first courses with correct and tasty portions, fabulous second courses! Truly worth trying! Quality, right price.

Il pesce semplice, freschissimo, della più classica cucina triestina. Per chi cerca il sapore del pesce fresco, non inquinato e coperto da spezie, aromi, cotture sofisticate ed improbabili. Pesce povero, quello più tipico della cucina locale, cotto perfettamente nella maniera più pura e schietta. Semicemente unico (peraltro a prezzi molto, ma molto onesti)
