Una vera chicca a Matera! Abbiamo provato il menu degustazione integrandolo con un altro primo e mai scelta è stata più azzeccata in quanto abbiamo mangiato un buonissimo risotto. Insomma proprietari e chef giovani e con una bella visione. € 110 a testa compreso vino!

Had a wonderful experience at EGO. The menu allowed us to try some traditional dishes from Matera that were elevated to fine dining. The service was a total joy and the restaurant looks beautiful and is exceptionally well designed. Would recommend for a special occasion.

We very thoroughly enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu tailored for vegetarians and I think Ego is a must-visit in Matera. It’s fine dining that is fresh, unexpected, unfussy yet delicious and refined. Chef Nicola is clever with great twists on local cuisine in a modern and sleek environment. Each dish, from our welcome to dessert was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and creative in its adaptation. Beautiful food, and an exciting and fun dining experience. Definitely Michelin star territory.

A small restaurant with exceptionally good food. 6 tables in total with a modern aesthetic, run by Chef Nicola who greeted us, and delivered/explained every dish. We had the tasting menu, tailored for vegetarians. I’m can’t recommend the experience highly enough! The food was flavorful fresh and interesting. Our serving took about 90min, with 5 plates at €75 (not including beverages). Some of the highlights for me were the herb risotto with drops of blueberry as well as the puffy fried bread with eggplant, soy, mint. The service was as good as the food! I’m surprised this place doesn’t have a Michelin star (yet!)

Pleasant experience overall but nothing special really. The pasta was undercooked (not al dente).

In questo ristorante si ha la conferma che la Cucina è sicuramente una forma d'arte. I piatti trasmettono emozioni e nascono dal vissuto dello chef proprio come un quadro o una scultura o un brano musicale. Lo chef Nicola Popolizio ha strameritato la stella Michelin. Il menù Contrasti, da noi scelto, ci ha entusiasmato molto. Ambiente rilassante con pochissimi tavoli, una piacevole conversazione con lo chef che serve e spiega i piatti e accompagna nel viaggio di sapori. I "contrasti" delle preparazioni sono assolutamente equilibrati e lasciano trasparire non solo una tecnica raffinata ma una voglia di osare che incuriosisce. Il mio piatto preferito del menù (se così si può dire ma tutti sono davvero buonissimi) è stato il risotto con ossobuco e gambero, davvero un'esplosione di sapori sorprendentemente delicati ed equilibrati. Bravo chef! Torneremo al cambio del menù!
