Dal Conte al Picio Matto In Roccastrada

We happened upon it for lunch today by pure chance and left thrilled. Excellent pici and environment. We will not forget the sympathy and kindness of Patrizia and Liviano. Next time it certainly won't be by chance. Greetings from Marco and Carla, the cat people :-)

We had a wonderful evening at Picio Matto. The service was warm and friendly. We felt comfortable from the start. The food was great and very special. The waitress took great pains to introduce us to the different courses. They attach great importance to local products. The wine was excellent! We'd love to come back! Thank you for this lovely evening - highly recommended!

Very nice restaurant in the center of Roccastrada. Stopped for lunch along the road to the sea, we had a really good time, both in terms of the quality of the dishes and the welcome and service. Pici with 5 different choices of sauces, grilled meat, 0 km vegetable caponata, even the 0 km house wine (it goes down a treat, then you realize it's 14 degrees), the desserts are also delicious, fresh freshly made. Friendly owners and a cool courtyard, what more could you ask for? Maybe we'll even stop on the way back

Great food, friendly service. Real Italian hospitality.

A serendipitous, spectacular find. We stopped in Roccastrada on spec, spotting its small collection of hillside buildings from the road below and hoping to find a restroom amongst them. Our quest for a bathroom led us to Picio Matto, the only restaurant open at midday in this small town. We entered intending to buy two espresso dopios and a bottle of acqua frizzante. However, the delightful interior, incredibly friendly and homely hosts, cute cat and enticing menu kept us there for well over an hour. The food was undoubtedly the best of our trip in Tuscany, and we are a lot of excellent meals. Ingredients were top quality. The herbs were picked fresh from the plants beside our table. We tried the ‘surprise’ Picio Matto which had the freshest black truffle we’d tasted, and ricotta and spinach stuffed tortelli. Both were perfect. The chicory and beans we enjoyed on the side were fresh, flavoursome and very well cooked. All of the above was enjoyed on a breezy and beautiful covered terrace. There is something very special about finding the best food and service when it is least expected.

Ospite a pranzo in questo ristorante posto nel centro di Roccastrada,la location è molto bella, tipica locanda Toscana. Il servizio è abbastanza veloce, il personale è molto cortese gentile e disponibile. I piatti proposti sono vari e sopratutto della tradizione, molto buoni e presentati bene. Il prezzo non è proprio economico ma giustifica quello che viene proposto.

Tipica osteria situata nel centro storico di Roccastrada, a poca distanza dalla Torre dell’Orologio. Gestito da una coppia di signori stupendi - marito e moglie - che sono il valore aggiunto, in un ambiente accogliente, si mangia con prodotti a km zero con accostamenti azzeccati in ogni pietanza. I pici sono buonissimi ma anche gli affettati ed i formaggi. Il vino della casa è corposo ma va giù che è un piacere. Insomma siamo rimasti più di due ore al tavolo solo per il piacere di rimanere a parlare. Come se fossimo con amici da una vita. Torneremo sicuramente con gli amici
