20/11/2025: Main point: if you're used to all-you-can-eat options (even high-end ones), this place isn't for you.
A very elegant and "exclusive" restaurant: the tables are practically packed together, so it's impossible not to overhear the heroic deeds of the average Chiaia and Posillipo resident, who met the President of the Republic and dined in Hollywood with the King of the Republic of Congo.
That aside, the service is forcedly high-end... to me, it seemed like a place run by young people who bothered to pour you water every now and then.
As for the quality of the fish, it's undoubtedly top-notch and extremely fresh. The rice is perfectly cooked. The fried foods aren't greasy and are cooked to perfection.
The only downside is that, for the most part, they're all fairly basic in flavor. We're objectively talking about raw fish, lightly seasoned, with little personality, and little imagination.
I tried both the 50-piece sushi mix and some incredibly good value rolls (4 for €40). Honestly, I expected to be amazed and enthralled by the latter, but they were also quite tasteless.
To recap... comparing it to the best all-you-can-eat restaurant in Naples: I don't want to compare the quality of the fresh fish, but rather the flavors and my health: I had a good time at both (I emphasize this because we're talking about raw meat), I spent a fair amount at both, and I ate enough at both. But personally, I find the ayce flavors more characterful and the dishes much more imaginative.
This is my second time at J, so my experience wasn't entirely unforeseen. Both evenings, my thought was the same: it's simply a place for certain people, who aim to tag themselves there to post on Instagram.
28/10/2025: Absolutely incredible. We’re from California and get Japanese food consistently, and this was by far one of our favorite experiences we’ve ever had. The food was outstanding, ambience was sexy and fun, and the service was wonderful. Beverly specifically made our night and even showed us around the restaurant when we were finished with our dinner. We plan on coming back to Napoli soon and can’t wait to come back to this restaurant.
