This is a legendary restaurant in the center of Rome. You can find tourists, but basically there are Romans. The typical dishes are delicious, and if one thing stands out is the dish that gives the restaurant its name.
The criticism comes from the crowdedness of the space, which at times of maximum influx makes it difficult to move between the tables, or even access the interior of the place. Of course, depending on how you look at it, this also gives it its charm.

Food was great, we were served by Martino and we had an amazing time!
It's an iconic restaurant, known everywhere and by everyone. The atmosphere is cheerful and convivial, frequented by regulars and tourists interested in immersing themselves in the heart of Rome. The food is good, with some standouts: the tagliatelle alla bolognese and the boiled meat. My preference is for meat, and I also recommend the cotoletta (of monumental size).
A must-try.

Huge disappointment.
Unpleasant service! 🤨 They brought us the appetizers with our drinks... The veal chop was tasteless and tiny, and to top it all off, they deliberately made a mistake on the coffee bill.

It is a vey nice classic style restaurant in a perfect location, Piazza del Popolo, where for ages people have regularly come to see and be seen. It is popular with the Roman high society, actors and artists, as well as lots of tourists. One would imagine that the appealing traditional menu offered here would guarantee a fantastic meal but sadly the food is mostly not up to what one would expect. In all sincerity it has never failed to disappoint me over the last 30 years! Even so one keeps coming back for the Dolce Vita atmosphere, it's true forte.....last night Al Pacino was eating dinner with his entourage in the corner table where stars usually eat.....

Sunday lunch to celebrate a dear friend, so we decided to book a table at one of the restaurants that has shaped the history of the city and its downtown area for a lifetime. I believe the management has changed hands for a while now. We booked for 1:00 PM, and the reserved table was already ready in the center of the main dining room. Despite the restaurant being already full, a lady welcomed us in the small entrance with a warm smile and invited us to leave our jackets in their always-staffed cloakroom. The classic yet welcoming and clean restaurant, due to space constraints, has tables that aren't particularly large, but are functional and well-manned by expert waiters who quickly and courteously accommodate the many guests. Let's get to the main attraction: the menu, featuring many classic Emilian dishes, but also Roman classics and the freshest fish!
The wine list is excellent, ranging from house wines to internationally renowned wineries. We tried the dry tortellini, salt-baked sea bass, and boiled meat. First, artichokes and anchovies with vegetables and baked potatoes. Everything was very well prepared with high-quality ingredients. Personally, I only found the artichokes to be undercooked, but they were well-seasoned and fresh, like everything else. To finish, a surprise cake for our friend was served, along with coffee and biscotti. On Sundays, it's very popular with locals, as well as tourists visiting Rome. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the bathrooms are well-kept and spotlessly clean. Congratulations!
