I had a good pizza, excellent dough, and very fair prices. I returned for fish, and the prices are fair. The wait for the dishes was a bit long, but the place was busy, and a bit of a wait is expected.

Simple family atmosphere, the pizza dough is great but we could only try it fried served with raw ham as we went for lunch we took 1 appetizer 1 first course with bottarga 1 fried dish 1 side dish half a house white wine 1 liter of water 2 coffees cost 65 euros

We went to this restaurant/pizzeria and had a great time. We had two pizzas, and the dough was good. We definitely have to try their food. The prices and service were fast and friendly. The prices were more than reasonable.

Nice place and helpful staff. Suitable for celiacs, the gluten-free pizza is highly recommended. I tried the "gourmet pizza" and really liked it. 😊

Overall, a positive experience, but I still believe restaurants need to raise the bar, including in terms of decor, tablecloths, and napkins. You can't keep demanding the same level of service when you offer a diner or business lunch bar. Back to the food, we ordered two mussel appetizers and two fried calamari and shrimp dishes. Half a liter of house wine, a bottle of still water, and a dessert. Total €83.00.

19/02/2026: Found by chance while visiting Sovana on a rainy day in February with friends and looking for a coffee, we ran into a guy who was opening the bistro and kindly let us in since everything around him was closed. Then, given his kindness and friendliness, we decided to return for lunch to try the handmade pici made by him and his mother, which we found to be excellent 👍
02/01/2026: A fairly large restaurant on Sovana's main road. A bit chaotic with a large number of seats. Service is quick. The daily specials aren't priced on the chalkboard outside. We ordered creamed pumpkin soup (off-menu, €13, which I thought was too expensive), broccoli and sausage gnocchi (very soft gnocchi, but the sauce was barely noticeable), and acquacotta (good!). With just these dishes and a bottle of water, we paid €44.

Pizzeria La Cantina

20/03/2026: This place serves food I haven’t tried anywhere else, including a whole fish deboned before being cooked and served. The menu was small which is always a good sign for me :) Incredible. Great wines. Great value. Recommended!
22/12/2025: La Cantina di Istia is a gem of Tuscan cuisine. We ate truly excellent food: homemade, authentic, and flavorful dishes prepared with great expertise. The chef is extremely skilled, and you can taste the love for tradition in every course. The staff is very friendly, warm, and always helpful. The atmosphere is rustic, warm, and typically Tuscan, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended! La Cantina di Istia è una perla della cucina toscana. Abbiamo mangiato davvero benissimo: piatti caserecci, genuini e richchi di sapore, preparati con grande competenza. Lo chef è estremamente preparato e si percepisce l’amore per la tradizione in ogni portata. Lo staff è super simpatico, accogliente e sempre disponibile. The atmosphere is rustic, warm and typical of Tuscany, which makes the atmosphere more beautiful. Assolutamente consigliata!
