Da Cesari is my favorite restaurant when I come to Bologna. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is welcoming, and they are friendly and very helpful.

The best Tagliatelle alla Bolognese we have eaten in Bologna! A must try when you visit. Make sure you make a reservation, even for lunch, they are generally very full. We couldn't go there for dinner, they were already fully booked for the next 2 days. But going for lunch was very worth it!

We were recommended to eat here. I called on Monday morning to make a reservation for the same day, but they were already fully booked. We did make a reservation for later in the week as we were passing through Bologna again.
Definitely worth the trip! The food and wines are amazing and the staff is friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended to make a reservation though, although they do take walk-ins - the restaurant was fully booked and many people tried to get a table during our dinner.

My husband called weeks in advance and was told by a worker there that they do not do reservations at Da Cesari and it’s only first come first serve even though they have a phone number to call for reservations on their website. :( We made sure to come early, and by the time it opened at 7:30pm - they told us it was fully booked with reservations…..I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to dining here and left wondering why we were told the wrong information…leaving 5 stars because i don’t want to hurt the ratings since we never actually dined in but needed to express my sadness.

We came here twice without a reservation and got lucky to be accepted. The food is amazing, as a desert I took their suggestion pasta that was amazing. I couldn’t leave without eating it again 😆 Servers have humour and are kind. I rarely leave a note but this restaurant deserves a special thanks.

Unfortunately no photos of the food from here but it was amazing!. We shared a cold meat platter which was superb. The green ravoli with rabbit and pasta with porchini mushroom were both incredible. Then for mains we had quail with roast potatoe and a pork meat plate. All accompanied with a lovely local red wine followed by a lovely and delicate panacotta with caramel sauce.
We had no reservation but this family run restaurant, staffed by father and son cooking "mommas" old recipes is one not to be missed. We loved our evening and will definitely be back when we return to Bologna.

Went to Bologna when travelling around Italy just to try traditional Bolognese (ragu) at Da Cesari as recommended by Big Zuu and Will Poulter. It was an amazing experience - food, staff and ambience. Well worth stopping off for. Recommend booking to avoid disappointment as people were constantly turned away during lunch service and the phone rang off the hook. Do not miss the chance to try it.
