We followed a recommendation of a Bolognesi local and what a fantastic suggestion! It's a local gem, and the service is warm and friendly. We loved the suckling pig, which is the best pork we've ever eaten.

The warm welcome from the host, his detailed presentation of the dishes he served us, and of course the excellence of everything we ate, make this place a must-visit if you're in Bologna... Actually, no, forget everything... this place must remain a secret just for us 😉

This osteria is located in Bologna, easily accessible on foot from the train station.
The decor is very rustic, with unique vintage furnishings. A vast selection of wines is also available.
It was a company dinner with a pre-arranged menu. We started with a few appetizers served in small glasses: chickpeas with pancetta, pappa al pomodoro, caramelized onion, and freshly sliced mortadella. We continued with two first courses: tagliatelle with ragù and a delicate cream cheese risotto with caramelized pears and pink peppercorns. The second course was a braised beef with polenta: the meat was incredibly tender and the sauce delicious. For dessert, vanilla ice cream served with powdered sugar, brittle, and flaked almonds—exquisite. The entire dinner was accompanied by water and wine, and we finished with coffee and amaro. The atmosphere is relaxed and makes for a pleasant evening.
I recommend dining at this osteria if you find yourself in Bologna.

Emilia-Romagna is the food capital of Italy and Bologna is the food capital of Emilia-Romagna. It is not for nothing that one of the names for Bologna is “La Grassa” — The Fat. Yes, Bologna wears the crown and one of the jewels in that crow is Antica Osteria Romagnola. However, it is a jewel you will not find out front or on the top. You must look to a modest side street away from the tourist throng. Antica Osteria Romagnola is a hidden gem with a neighborhood feel and the food and service make you feel like a neighbor.
My wife and I stopped in one day while they were closed, but the door was open. A gentleman, whom I supposed to be owner, greeted me warmly and happily made a reservation for us. Upon our arrival two days later we were again greeted warmly. The place was full with families enjoying the Sunday, yet the noise level was no problem. The sound of families together was quite enlivening. The same gentleman who we met previously took our order, patiently letting me order in Italian and helping out along the way.
I had the gramigna with rabbit ragu — I will eat anything rabbit. My wife had the crispy tortelloni. We shared a speciality of stuffed zucchini flowers. The two suggestion regard wine pared perfectly.
The food, the service, the atmosphere … Era tutto perfetto.
Next year our plan is to visit Sicily, but the following year we will be back in Bologna and we will return to Antica Osteria Romagnola. Grazie mille.

Highly recommended. Excellent food. Excellent wine. Relatively quick. The place is lovely. If you're on a diet, they offer light, low-fat dishes. The price is reasonable for what they offer.
