An unforgettable anniversary.
I begin this review with a well-deserved mea culpa: neither my wife (a true Ferrarese) nor I (in Ferrara since 2011) had ever been to this wonderful restaurant. We decided to make up for it on Sunday, our twelfth wedding anniversary.
The tasting menu tempted us, but we opted for à la carte lunch. I had an appetizer, first course, and second course; my wife had an appetizer, second course, and dessert.
I believe the attached photographs speak for themselves when it comes to describing the elegance of the location and the beauty and quality of the dishes. I'll just point out that we thoroughly enjoyed some of the truly unusual, yet surprisingly successful, flavor combinations (for example, the wagyu with salmon in the signature main course, but also small details like the pairing of coffee and pineapple in the dessert). The food, course after course, was a true discovery, and we found ourselves laughing and joking, feeding each other samples so as not to miss anything, like two sweethearts.
The aspect I'd like to focus on was the wonderful attentiveness of the service, which made us feel truly pampered throughout the meal. For example, since my wife hadn't ordered a first course, they still brought her an amuse-bouche to while away the time. Or, again without a word, my wife's second course was accompanied by a glass of the Japanese liqueur we'd spotted in the display case and commented on. Coincidence or the keen ear of an attentive maître d'? To top it off, a final surprise from the chef with his happy anniversary wishes, as pictured.
The final surprise came when the bill arrived: truly very, very, very fair for the experience we had.
We'll definitely be back to try the tasting menu.

Luckily, we had reservations for the usual Monday night dinner; the restaurant was full.
The dimly lit atmosphere and the international clientele reminded me of the serenity of dark rooms. The small bites and dishes were delicious, often topped with tropical-flavored gels.
The waiters were so quick, appearing out of nowhere in unison, handing out or removing small bowls/edible balls, blasély reciting among the tables how much the Chef loves basil. In fact, he's made a little oil with it that he puts on all the dishes and even in the ice cream...lucky me, I like basil!
The wine selection was excellent, few but good: a bottle of Malvasia and no headaches the next day.
I, however, underestimated the loaf of bread that is brought as a welcome treat/taste, accompanied by a small dish of onion oil to mop up the bread like my grandmother did, who knew these filling snack tricks: -magna bela!- she would say, and in the end you find yourself so full that we spent €200 for the two of us but the next day the loaf continued to fill me up!

An experience not to be missed. If you're looking for the hustle and bustle of large gatherings, you're in the wrong place. If, however, you're craving the soul of the cuisine, this place is a must. With just 10 tables, the atmosphere is simple and intimate. A small refuge recommended to us by regular customers, and their expectations were not only confirmed, but exceeded. We opted for the tasting menu, a choice that proved to be a winner. The cuisine offers a masterful progression of flavors; each dish is precisely constructed, without ever overdoing it; the flavors are bold, the combinations unique, and astonishing. The wines deserve special mention, carefully selected to accompany each course. But what makes this place a rare gem in Ferrara's gastronomic landscape is the human factor: rarely do you feel so "pampered." The staff is, in fact, the place's secret weapon: highly knowledgeable in explaining the dishes, kind, and welcoming. If you're looking to treat yourself to a special moment, this is the place.

I went for the first time on Saturday evening and we tried the meat tasting menu:
It consisted of seven courses including appetizers, a first course, several second courses, and dessert.
I was satisfied with all the dishes, which were truly delicious. (The photos show suckling pig, duck, rabbit cappelletti, and finally egg and truffle.)
I was also pleasantly surprised by the chef's humility.

I've been coming to Cucina Bacilieri for years and have always had a wonderful experience. Yet, lately, I don't know how it's possible, but chef Michele Bacilieri has managed to outdo himself once again, raising the bar even higher.
The food isn't simply good: it's sublime, almost magical. Each dish surprises with its balance, quality, and creativity.
The attentive and professional staff are always welcoming, as are the details, tastefully attended to and never predictable.
Compliments to Cucina Bacilieri: every time it's a moment of relaxation and pleasure,
a true treat for the palate... and the soul.

38 years of life together with my wife and our daughters have given us this dinner. Dinner is an understatement, it's a journey, a fantastic culinary journey. I close my eyes for a moment and imagine: my wife and I sitting in a flaming BMW convertible on a summer's day on the roads of the Amalfi coast. Chef Miki at the wheel and Sabri as navigator, assisted by a photogenic staff. I have never smelt so many expertly combined aromas and flavors. Thank you, and thank you again.
