Nice crotto not far from the train station. Excellent and abundant traditional Valtellina dishes. As soon as you sit down you are served a taste of bresaola. Highly recommended

This is a place with a history behind it, I believe one of the oldest crotti in the area, renovated in 2019 making it modern, with class without distorting the image. Now let's talk about the food, which I won't go into detail about but will simply insert some photos, ensuring that quality and quantity definitely rhyme. The price of €146 for 3 is normal, considering a €22 bottle of Bonarda. Very high kindness, friendliness and competence of the staff.

Everything is top notch!! Excellent cuisine. Beautiful restaurant-crotto, tastefully decorated. Very kind staff. The idea of ​​serving the Florentine steak on the cutting board is great: it's a shame though that the grease from the meat drips all over the tablecloth. The crotto is located in the beautiful area of ​​the crotti of Chiavenna with ample free parking nearby. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended

We went there for the first time last Thursday for lunch and had a great time! After we sat down, they offered us a taste of their bresaola, which was truly delicious. We ordered the schisciat as a starter, which are a little different from the sciat but just as good. They have a square shape and are filled not only with cheese but also with bresaola. As first courses we had chestnut tagliatelle with taleggio cream and speck and manfrigole, which are crepes rolled up with stringy cheese and bresaola. One was better than the other, really, we did a great job getting them. The manfrigole in particular were delicious and if we were to return I would definitely get them again. As for the tagliatelle, perhaps the speck could be improved by choosing another type of cut because it was too thin and too dry and hard. Still feeling a little hungry, I also ordered the mixed grilled meat (there were pork ribs, beef/pork fillets I think, a lamb chop and a small sausage) with polenta, grilled vegetables (courgettes and peppers) and potatoes. The meat was perfect, soft, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I left the polenta with my boyfriend who is crazy about it and I think he liked it. The vegetables were done well and the potatoes were perfect both in cutting and cooking. Finally, to satisfy our sweet tooth, we ordered the buckwheat cake with blueberry jam. The cake itself wasn't bad, despite it being a type of dessert that isn't one of my favourites. The main problem was the temperature: too cold since it had probably just been taken out of the fridge. I don't know if this could be improved in some way, perhaps by heating it a little before serving it. We also took water and a glass of wine and spent around €57 if I'm not mistaken. The place inside is nice although not very large, but we were lucky enough to end up at a table of 4, so you can't say we were cramped. The service was also more than correct as well as quick. I absolutely recommend this crotto to anyone who wants to come to the area and be on the safe side. The food is really good!!!

Just outside the center you can find this crotto, very welcoming, with friendly staff. Here you can taste all the typical dishes of the area. Each dish is well prepared, abundant and delicious! I recommend you book because it's not that big and it's always full.

Very welcoming, despite being full, the lady managed to find me a place for 2 people, top. The Trout alla Piota is divinely good!! Congratulations, highly recommended, when I return to Chiavenna a stop here is a must.

In very remote times, a large landslide that detached itself from the mountain overlooking Chiavenna to the south created a cluster of enormous boulders that reached as far as Pratogiano. The "sorel" comes out from the cracks between the boulders: a flow of air at 8 degrees constant in any season. To exploit this gift of nature, small buildings were built where wine, cured meats and cheeses could be matured. In more recent times they were enlarged and became the crotti: places where "good wine is drunk and scola de humanitade is held". Among all, my favorite is the Crotto Ristorante Ombra which, in addition to the delicacies of Chiavenna cuisine, offers the kindness and thoughtfulness of the owners in recently renovated environments. Unmissable stop.

Local, welcoming, rustic but not too much, jovial, professional staff who make you feel at home. All courses follow tradition, plentiful and excellent, both the quality-price ratio and the speed of service are very appreciable. Highly recommended!

30/03/2025: We came for lunch, perfect staff and service, the owner welcomed us immediately with open arms, we ordered sciatt and pizzoccheri both super tasty especially regarding the cheeses. Great choice of wines, I recommend for all skiers who pass through Santa Caterina
