We had a great time there after finishing our 5 days hike. Large great steak with polenta and potatoes, nice salad, good variety of wine. Staff is nice and helpful, some speak English.

What a wonderful place for an excellent family meal! Very welcoming with excellent service and top quality food. The cheeses were amazing, as one would expect from a Crotto. The Gorgonzola sauce with my Polenta was so lovely I wish I could have had another separate portion to pour over or dip my bread into! The member of our party that had the steak said it was the best he'd ever had, and he's had many good steaks over the years! Crotto Ombra is definitely a must visit when in Chiavenna.

We last came here two years ago, but unfortunately the menu isn't the same anymore. We no longer found many of the Valtellina dishes from the old menu, like buckwheat pizzoccheri or sciat. It's a shame. However, the place and atmosphere are still quaint, and the service is quick and courteous.

Everything was delicious, the atmosphere was typical of Chiavenna, slightly expensive but in line with the prices in the area, perhaps a bit cramped for large groups but worth it, perfect food, short wait and lots of choice

We just left the restaurant. The friendliness, food, and helpfulness were top-notch! We came with a 30-kg dog and they didn't flinch. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Chiavenna, early August 2025, outdoor lunch at this Chiavenna-style restaurant. "Traditional" atmosphere, truly refined and unusual cuisine for Valtellina. The only drawback is a 40-minute wait for two first courses. Highly recommended among the first courses are the Manfrigole and the Fidelin del Moro. Parking 100 meters away.

14/09/2025: During the Sagra dei Crotti, I had the opportunity to try this delightful place. It wasn't a random choice; I was looking for traditional dishes with a touch of thoughtfulness, and I must say they fully met my expectations. Two of us chose the traditional menu, and one dish was even better than the other: Sciatt with a little batter and lots of cheese, pizzoccheri with just the right seasoning, not drowned in butter. The meat melted in your mouth and wasn't even necessary with a knife, so tender it was. The dessert on the menu wasn't anything fancy, but it was good. Then we ordered tagliolini with mushrooms from the menu—exceptional—delicate and without seasoning. The dish was so generous that we only needed dessert to finish. The dessert was a true delight: a cannoli with blueberries. The atmosphere was elegant, and the service is set in silver! The staff were extremely friendly and the service was very fast. Average bill, considering that we ate quality food: 3 of us, two menus and 1 à la carte - €50 per person, obviously we didn't have wine.
