Country House Podere Lacaioli I In Castiglione del lago

It's a 15th-century farmhouse with no neighbors. It has very few rooms and a stunning landscape. The chef's cuisine is respectful of the purest Tuscan tradition. The Brunello is excellent. They speak several languages. Not to be missed!!!

The area is beautiful, with its atmosphere. I would have expected a different, more family-friendly welcome. That said, the restaurant has a well-maintained atmosphere, traditional dishes, and reasonable prices. The room, however, was a bit awkward, with an uncomfortable shower. A few tweaks and improvements could be made. The place is clean and tidy, if a bit dated. The take-out breakfast was appreciated.

So much good to say about Podere Il Cocco. First off, we had a wonderful tour with Giacomo. You can tell right away that his passion for his land, his process, his wine and his farming are deep. The wine was superb and interesting. It was so fun to learn about his process, likely our favorite wine tour of our trip. The food was top notch; we ate there for lunch and dinner, ordering almost everything on the menu. One thing was better than the next, especially the Pici. We also stayed on premises. The grounds are lovely, so many good seating options. The hotel room was sparsely adorned but wasn't needed for much; a perfectly pleasant room to use if not spending much time indoors. Overall, seek out Il Cocco if you're in the area!
