We hadn't booked, it was after 1pm, but they welcomed us cordially. Quiet, welcoming place. Friendly staff, good cuisine, partly traditional. The strudel was wonderful

The restaurant is located under a historic, and at the same time dated, building, a stone's throw from the town center. It does not have its own parking spaces but within a radius of a few tens of meters there are several, also the fact that the town is touristically "structured" for visiting the Rocca means that in any case you can park anywhere nearby and within 5 minutes you can is at the table. It has a beautiful large room inside and a few outdoor seats, where we had lunch on a beautiful sunny day with a view of the fortress. The menu is typical of the area, traditional dishes with an eye on vegetarian cuisine. We tasted a portion of "pallotte cacio e ova", a "village" appetizer which includes typical local cured meats and cheeses, two first courses (gnocchi with pumpkin cream and rintrocili with mushrooms and truffles), half a liter of house red, a liter of sparkling water and two coffees, 72 euros in total (see photo). Surely many will say that it is not cheap, in fact it is not, but I must say that in any case the price is fair and adequate for the dishes served, in addition to the fact that the kindness and courtesy of the dining room staff is excellent, the only thing that Perhaps the cover charge, 3 euros, is at odds with the price, which is also justified by the fact that a bag of 4 types of local bread is served. Of course, as I always say, THEY ARE MY PERSONAL CONSIDERATIONS BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, having said that I cannot recommend it to everyone because the high price in such a place is much above average (in fact it was just us at lunch), and what chairs and tables outside are very neglected and with very uncomfortable seats, at least some cushions should be added, they certainly don't help for an overall opinion on the price. Being a "perched" town, the main road passes in front of the place with all that it entails (cars, trucks and tractors) and that those with walking difficulties or the disabled will find the place slightly uncomfortable, but after all, people come here to visit the Rocca, that alone is not suitable for everyone. As far as I'm concerned, if I were to return to the area, it's definitely a place to have in your favourites.

Nice restaurant, good food, normal prices. Friendly staff. I recommend the cover charge at 3 euros per person and a little excessive.

My husband and I took a motorbike ride and stopped for lunch at this place. The place is located right in front of the Roccascalegna castle, the food is good and plentiful, the staff is very kind, welcoming and helpful. We had a very good time. We will happily return.

Grazioso locale a Roccascalegna, siamo capitati a pranzo di sabato senza prenotazione e nonostante il locale fosse piuttosto affollato ci hanno rimediato un tavolo in pochi minuti, la signora ci ha allestito velocemente un tavolo nella zona ingresso bar, e ci ha intrattenuto con consigli e simpatia per tutto il pranzo e ci ha ricolmato di attenzioni. Abbiamo gustato piatti della tradizione contadina abruzzese come pizz’e foje e pallotte cacio e ova, abbiamo apprezzato l’uso interessante delle erbe aromatiche e concluso con degli ottimi dolci. Qualche piccola svista del servizio,comprensibile visto l’affollamento del locale, è stata prontamente risolta con velocità e simpatia. A pleasant surprise. Also vegan dishes, declared on the menu, as well as all the ingredients. There is so much care in everything. The quality is high and the prices are adequate. But it is not the classic tourist restaurant. It's definitely something more.

The tables outside have a view of the castle, we had a good time, very friendly service and good food. The mixed starter was very plentiful and good, with excellent first courses.

We had a lovely time with Nicola and Valentina. The food is local and very good. The atmosphere is truly amazing. Nicola and Valentina are great hosts!!
