A very charming place located in a quiet spot within the Sassi. We enjoyed the mixed platter of excellent cured meats and cheeses, accompanied by a truly unique pumpkin and almond jam and wonderful Matera bread. The crostini were also excellent.

It was so delicious. The price was reasonable, and the owner was friendly. You can enjoy your meal outdoors while taking in the view. By the way, there's a clean bathroom.

The most beautiful little lunch restaurant tucked away just outside the old town. We had a lovely sandwich, but their tapas and salad look delicious too. 🌞

07/01/2026: Excellent food and very kind owner.
04/01/2026: I tried this restaurant a few years ago during a stop in Matera, and since I liked it so much, I brought it back again this year for the company I was having. Always a guarantee! The restaurant is inside a cave, so the atmosphere is very evocative. The dishes are typical of Lucania; from appetizers to dessert, everything was delicious and prepared with local ingredients. The owner explained each course and the wine to us with patience and kindness, even though we were quite noisy and picky diners :D In short, an almost obligatory stop if you're passing through Matera.

07/01/2026: We had dinner at this wonderful restaurant on January 3, 2026. It's a charming place in the center of Matera. The owners and staff were friendly and professional, and the food was traditional and of excellent quality. A special after-dinner experience was enjoyed in the cave cinema, where clips from films shot in Matera were shown. If you go to Matera, stop at this restaurant; it's worth it!
